Yankees' Juan Soto in Sunday's lineup, may undergo further imaging Monday

After the Yankees scratched slugger Juan Soto from Saturday's lineup against the Toronto Blue Jays with what the team is calling a right hand bruise, the team announced X-rays came back negative.

Then, on Sunday, Soto told MLB.com's Brian Hoch that he may get a CT scan or an MRI on Monday, though he said his right hand was feeling better.

Soto was not in the original lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Jays, but he was added just minutes before first pitch, playing right field and hitting second.

Manager Aaron Boone said that Soto's hand swelled up and he was uncomfortable swinging a bat on Saturday. The bruise occurred when Soto slid into home on a rundown play in Friday's game.

Soto has been an essential part of the 2024 Yankees.

The 25-year-old is slashing .302/.434/1.004 with 20 home runs and 60 RBI. He was the catalyst for the Yankees' 16-5 win on Friday when his three-run home run put New York in the lead for good. The win snapped the Yankees' four-game losing streak.
