Where Was “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” Filmed?
Is Summerville, Oklahoma a real place?
Before we go anywhere, we have to determine whether Summerville, Oklahoma is a real place. This will help us to answer the question: where was “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” filmed?
According to HITC, to get the Oklahoma look they wanted for production, they moved to Calgary, Alberta in Canada. So if fans were looking to visit the town of Summerville for themselves, they’ll have to check out the towns of Drumheller, Fort Macleod, and Crossfield, all located near Calgary.
Jason Reitman and his father Ivan are both Canadian, so this might explain why he stuck to his native Canada instead of filming on location somewhere in Oklahoma. And now that we know the area where “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” was filmed, we can go ahead and get into some of the specifics.
Where is the house from “Ghostbusters: Afterlife”?
One place that fans will surely want to know about is the Spangler house. The dilapidated farmhouse that Egon’s daughter Callie inherits is sure to beg the question “Where was ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ filmed?”
According to the Calgary Herald, it was no easy task to find the ideal location. After scouting locations in New Mexico and Oklahoma, the production found that Calgary was perfect. However, they still had to scour around 320 square kilometers in Foothills County to find the house’s location.
Unfortunately, it seems that the haunted house in the movie is not an actual home. In fact, it was a set that was torn down after the production wrapped. But next, we have a few locations that fans are actually able to visit for themselves in the Calgary area.
