Many television shows and movies do not actually film on location in the places that they are set. Usually, filmmakers are able to find a good alternative or else create one for themselves.

In the case of “Emily In Paris,” however, the show was looking for authenticity in their filming locations. According to IMDB, they did not entirely shoot the show in France since they filmed the opening of the series in Chicago.

Now that we know that the show was actually shot in France, let’s visit specific locations. These are the ones fans should check out if they’ve ever asked themselves, “Where is ‘Emily In Paris’ filmed?”

When Emily Cooper first arrives in Paris, she moves into “chambre de bonne”. If you don’t speak French, it is a very small and cheap apartment located at the top of an apartment building. Despite its small size, a glimpse of the beautiful apartment building is sure to beg the question, “Where is ‘Emily In Paris’ filmed?”

In the new apartment building, she meets her downstairs neighbor Gabriel as well as her friend and confidant Mindy Chen. According to Limitless Secrets, this “chambre de bonne” is on the 5th floor of an apartment building in the Place de l’Estrapade in Paris. Don’t let the name fool you, though – it is named after quite a grisly torture method that was used in the 17th century.

Thankfully, today you won’t see any remnants of the barbaric practice in the gorgeous square. If you find yourself in Paris and want to see for yourself where Emily stayed, then head to the Latin Quarter. There, you can visit the Place de l’Estrapade and all its cute shops and cafes.

Emily Cooper’s apartment building is definitely one to check out if you find yourself in Paris. However, there are also plenty of other fabulous sights from the show worth seeing.

One of the other locations where Emily spends a lot of time is Savoir, the office building for the marketing firm she works at. According to an article in My Imperfect Life, the real-life building is in Place de Valois. Once called the Cour de Fontaines because of the fountains that were previously there, it was given a more appropriate name once they were removed from the courtyard.

Next up is the opera house that Emily visits. This is another historic location in Paris called Palais Garnier. The opera house was built in the latter half of the 19th century and is still in operation today, so be sure to swing by for a tour. Or, if you’re lucky, you can see a full opera there yourself like Emily did.

After you see an opera, you can retrace Emily’s steps and eat dinner at the iconic Le Grand Vefour restaurant. The opulent and lavishly decorated restaurant has been a fixture of French fine dining for years. So if you can get a table and afford a plate, it is well worth a visit.

There are still plenty of other amazing Paris locations to check out for yourself. Just a quick stroll around the city will reveal many familiar places from the show. Now that we have covered a few, we can travel along with Emily down to the French Riviera, where the second season takes place.
