Wayne Estes tourney returning to Anaconda
ANACONDA — The Wayne Estes Basketball Tournament will return to Anaconda Friday through Sunday, March 24-26, in the Memorial Gym.
The tournament, held annually since 1984, brings teams from around the country to compete in multiple divisions including Men’s B, Women’s, Co-Ed and kids from first grade through high school.
Entry fees are $300 for adult teams and $250 for school-age teams. There will be cash payouts for the adult divisions as well as a showcase of great skills in the three-point contest and the slam dunk contest.

According to wayneestestournament.net, Estes scored 1,430 points during high school, including 630 during the 26 games of his senior year. At that time his career point total was second only to Ed Kalafat, who scored 1,561 during four years with the varsity team.
He took state in the shot put, his best shot put of 59-4.5 still stands as an Anaconda High School record.
In his final game on the night of his death, he shattered the USU Nelson fieldhouse scoring record, set a record of 2,001 points, scoring more points than any other USU player in the fieldhouse.
