Twitter Reacts to Gabriel Luna Playing Joel’s Brother, Tommy

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D star Gabriel Luna is set to play Joel’s brother, Tommy Miller, in HBO’s The Last of Us. What does Twitter think of their choice?

HBO’s The Last of Us series continues to build its cast with their newest member coming into the fold. Gabriel Luna joins Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie, and Pedro Pascal who has taken on the role of Joel.

Luna will star as Tommy Miller, the younger brother of Joel who was once a soldier who hasn’t losened his grasp on idealism and hopes for a better world dispite learning how to cope in the apocalypse.

As with the announcement back in January when The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal got cast as Joel, social media had quite a lot to say especially so when fan favourite Nikolaj Coster-Waldau got overlooked.

Let’s see how fans have reacted on Twitter with the news of Gabriel Luna portraying Tommy in HBO’s The Last of Us.

Twitter Reacts

As with anything on social media, everyone will have an opinion on something – that’s just the way of things. Some may have valid points while other’s just seem to want to criticise something they either don’t understand or just flat out don’t like.

Thankfully, many of the comments about Gabriel Luna taking on the role as Tommy have been really positive.

@IamGabrielLuna will kill it. He is so underrated and I can't understand why. I was very saddened he didn't get a standalone Ghost Rider show. He was excellent.

Good choice, I’ve always enjoyed his acting

And, of course, you get those who aren’t too happy with HBO’s choice or (rolls eyes hard here) believe that because Luna doesn’t look like Tommy, he is obviously the wrong person for the job.

On a side note: someone does not HAVE to look like a character to do a great job at portraying them. In this instance, we are talking about a video game character who has been created in a studio to look how they do so, in essence, they look like nobody.

He’s no Tommy

This guy is a great actor but once again the character looks so different from the one in game.

so this show is a Hispanic version? gee that's fkn disappointing. Cuckman hates his own characters.

Personally, I’m very excited for this show to come out and I can’t wait to see how the storylines play out as well as the talented actors they have brought in to unravel into The Last of Us personas.

While it’s unclear when The Last of Us will premiere on HBO, filming will begin this July, with the hopes of coming to an end in June next year.
