The PlayStation Portal has Been Hacked, and It’s Actually Worthwhile Now

The PlayStation portal has been around for just over two months now, the remote play device has been one of their most successful launches in recent memory becoming the fourth best-selling system in the United States for gaming, the system itself only allows players to connect to an already powered on PlayStation 5 that has a stable network connection.

However, this could all be about to change with a new hack released for the device this week that will elevate the portal to a whole new level. This hack may just make the device very much worth the money for those who love more than just their current PlayStation library

So what is this new hack for the Playstation portal?

An X user confirmed in a post that PPSSPP is now native on the portal

Thanks to user @theflow0. we now know that the adaption is called PPSSPP and is now native on the portal meaning it should run seamlessly on all portal devices. This was announced in a post to the user’s X account which shows a picture of a portal running Grand Theft Auto 3!

After more than a month of hard work, PPSSPP is running natively on PlayStation Portal. Yes, we hacked it. With help from xyz and @ZetaTwo

This news will come to great responses from fans especially those who are extremely critical of the device with one user commenting “Wow finally some use for that useless thing” which demonstrates how many fans felt about the PlayStation Portal upon its release with much of the criticism coming from the way the device must be connected to a powered on PS5 at all times.

The name PPSSPP is no stranger to many gamers who enjoy playing their favourite PSP games with the software being the most widely used open-source software that is available on a huge range of platforms for free.

So how can Playstation Portal users take advantage of this hack?

Unfortunately for PlayStation Portal users, there is no release date in the near future

With its confirmed support many users of the Playstation Portal will be eager to get their hands on the software to play their favourite handheld titles on the newest handheld device and the biggest question is how fans can get the PPSSPP software.

However the unfortunate news is that the trio behind bringing the software to the PlayStation Portal has confirmed that there are no plans for a release date in the near future, and even more bad news is that due to the PlayStation Portal’s limited storage, it may limit how many games can be played on the device.

However, even with the undefined release date this may still be a good addition to the portal as it gives users more freedom when it comes to their unit and will let them expand the library of playable games for free in one place on one console rather than across many and allow players to enjoy their favourite handheld games on a new updated device with its fantastic screen and easy to use controls.
