The 12 Best Romantic Comedies (Pretty Woman! Clueless!) of the '90s

Two weeks ago, I rounded up some of the top 12 must-see romantic comedies of the '80s, with a promise of the best '90s rom-coms to follow. But then this happened. Blame TomKat for the delay! But now that's old news, so let's get back to what really matters--our favorite schmoopy chick flicks of yesteryear!

But first, disclaimer! In case you're wondering, this is a round-up of chick flicks, so epic romances like Titanic and period-pieces like Shakespeare in Love weren't included. Also, apparently the '90s were the Golden Age of Romantic Comedies, so this list was hard incredibly hard to narrow down. If your favorite didn't make the cut, please tell me your picks in the comments! Also, vote for next week's best rom-coms of the 2000s!

Now back to the rom-com fest, organized by year (not rank!)...

1990: Pretty Woman

*Not including everybody's favorite hooker-with-a-heart-of-gold story would have been a "BIG mistake! Big! Huge!" I have to go shopping now. *

1993: Sleepless in Seattle__

RIP, Nora Ephron. Nobody else can match her ability to create too true-to-life characters in a romantic comedy.

1994: Four Weddings and a Funeral

And this was when I fell in love with Hugh Grant, the ultimate rom-com hero of the 1990s.

1994: It Could Happen to You

Let's be real, the shrill-voiced Rosie Perez totally steals the show in this tale of an honest cop who splits is lottery winnings with a down-on-her-luck waitress.
