Summer Hairstyle Ideas for Curly and Frizzy Hair
Have super curly hair? Own the texture from the get-go.
If you have really curly hair, when it comes to styling frizz, you have to start with defined curls, Ferrell warns, "or else it will be a mess." Use a product with a firmer hold like a gel or mousse (yes, mousse is making a comeback!) that will hold your curls together as your hair dries. Then, once dry, brush the curls out and just own the fuzzy texture. "Instead of fighting against frizz as it comes up in the heat, just make that your look when you set out for the day," says Ferrell. "So much easier."
Keep a few hairstyles that look better with frizz in your back pocket.
If you aren't prepared to go full-on Sigourney or Solange, then an easier way to work with it is to pull your hair into a topknot or braid that is made to have a little texture around the crown anyway. "I like a topknot that's not obnoxiously high on the head," says Ferrell, "it's more elegant and disco-era." For braids, instead of the typical crown braid, Ferrell recommends double French braids that are pinned together at the bottom. "The hotter and sweatier you get with these hairstyles, the better your hair is going to look." We'll take it.
