Stephanie Faracy was born in Brooklyn, situated in the US state of New York, on January 1, 1952. She was, however, brought up in Elk Grove Village, situated in the state of Illinois.
She attended Yale School of Drama and Illinois Wesleyan University, where she studied acting.

Career
Stephanie Faracy started her acting career on stage in New York stage before appearing in an episode of the ABC sitcom, Laverne & Shirley, in 1976.
She went on to play “Corinne” in the 1978 comedy Heaven Can Wait, after appearing in two unaired sitcom pilots. In 1979, Faracy portrayed “Babbette” in the comedy Scavenger Hunt, and “Angel Childress” in the drama When You Comin’ Back, Red Ryder?
Faracy has a long-standing television career. She played the lead role in the CBS sitcom The Last Resort from 1979 to 1980. She co-starred with Bill Bixby and Mariette Hartley in the CBS sitcom Goodnight, Beantown from 1983 to 1984. She also appeared in several mini-series in the 1980s, such as The Thorn Birds (1983), in which she played “Mary Carson”. She co-starred in the 1987 romantic comedy Blind Date with Bruce Willis and Kim Basinger, and the following year she played John Candy’s wife in the comedy The Great Outdoors.
Faracy and Martin Mull co-starred in the sitcom His & Hers in 1990. Later that year, she played the lead role in the Fox sitcom True Colors, which is about interracial marriage. She co-starred in the 1993 movie Hocus Pocus, as “Jenny Dennison”, alongside Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker.
She has been in supporting roles on several television shows, including Touched by an Angel, Wings, Murphy Brown, Will & Grace, Frasier, Grey’s Anatomy, Ugly Betty, How I Met Your Mother, Castle, Desperate Housewives, Modern Family, How to Get Away with Murder, and The Goldbergs. She appeared frequently in the 2016 season of the Lifetime comedy-drama series, Devious Maids. She portrayed Lisa Lawson, the mother of “Michael”, played by Neil Patrick Harris, on the Netflix comedy series, Uncoupled, in 2022.
Her most recent notable film credits include Sideways (2004), Surviving Christmas (2004), Flightplan (2005), Get Him to the Greek (2010), Bad Teacher (2011) and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates (2016).
