After becoming a pro-Nekko rider, you are bound to eventually stumble into the Moldy Depths, only to find yourself trapped in a damp cavern with a large metal door that seems impossible to open. If you are struggling with escaping the Moldy Depths, fret not. We’ll walk you through how to open the gate and find your way back to the surface above.
How To Open The Moldy Depths Door
If you found the Moldy Depths, it was most likely while you were trying to complete the Rumor - The Musician & Their Droid. After heading inside the nearest building and falling into the cavern below, you’ll find a familiar puzzle door. Only this time, solving the puzzle won’t be so easy.
Usually, when you encounter these doors, you simply pull the rope and secure it to an anchor not far away. This time, however, there is no anchor to attach it to, and your only escape requires using the Nekko trapped on the other side of the door. To get the Nekko through the door, pull the door open and press the “tame” button to call the Nekko through the open door.

Beyond The Moldy Depths
Once you have the Nekko on the right side of the door, use it to double-jump to the ledge above you. Once on top, you’ll have to wall jump back and forth until you reach the surface. As you make your way back outside, you’ll find you are above the area where you first entered the building, but on the other side of it.
Before you hop down, take a moment to explore the surrounding area. This path is the only way to get to the Harvest Ridge area and meditation point, so be sure to look for the Nekko barn nearby. After taking out a few droids and a raider, you’ll use the nearby Nekko’s and the elevator inside the barn to reach a perk slot upgrade and the meditation point above.
