Southern Pacific CASCADE overnight passenger trains? - Trains Magazine

Does anyone out there remember SP's CASCADE overnight passenger trains? I rode them as a boy in the late 40's and very early 50's, from Portland, Oregon, to Oakland, California. It was somewhat like the SHASTA DAYLIGHT, except that it didn't leave at the crack of dawn; rather a little later in the morning, and arrived early the next morning. Instead of just the coach seating, it had a lot of compartments that made up into the good ol' sleepers at night. The colors were (as I recall) shades of soft purple and grey instead of the reds and oranges of the Daylight. They were pulled by GS-4's, same engines as the Daylight. I'd sure like some reassurance that my memories aren't fading on me...
