Shannon Sharpe ‘delighted’ to see Lamar Jackson finally deliver what was ‘expected from him’ during Ravens’ solid win against the Lions

Lamar Jackson is the talk of the town following his near-perfect game last night. The quarterback’s excellent game against the Detroit Lions saw him throw for 357 yards, have 3 passing touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdown with 0 interceptions. It came as no surprise that the Baltimore Ravens whooped the Lions 38-6 at the end of regulation.

ESPN’s Shannon Sharpe was impressed with Lamar Jackson and the Ravens following their decisive victory. He had nothing but praise to heap on the QB this morning on First Take and elaborated upon what Jackson did right.

It shows what type of team they can be and this is the level of expectation...this is how it should be.

Sharpe believes that Baltimore showed its potential on offense last night and this is the way in which the team should continue to play. The analyst further pointed out the fact that Lamar Jackson is on the hot seat as he is just one of three active quarterbacks who has won the MVP in recent years. The other two are Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers.

We have to judge him, we have to critique him to the highest standard.

As Jackson has proven that he can play the game at the highest level, it is not wrong to hold him accountable when he does not live up to the expectations.

"This is the Ravens that we expected to see … For the first time, I saw what this offense could be when Lamar Jackson is playing Lamar Jackson-style football."

Shannon Sharpe praised Lamar Jackson for not having any turnovers last night

Shannon believes Baltimore’s offense performs best when Lamar Jackson holds on to the football.

Last week they were 1-6 in the redzone, guess what they were this week, 5-6... (Lamar Jackson) has to do a better job at holding on to the football.

The Hall-of-Fame tight end is spot on as last night, Jackson did not have single turnover.

Shannon expects Lamar to play a “clean ball game” and whenever he does, things just click for Baltimore’s offense. By ‘clean’ Sharpe does not expect the quarterback to go out there and throw for over 350 yards, but he just wants to see Lamar distribute the ball properly through the offense. Last night, the quarterback threw to multiple receivers rather than just relying on two or three of them.

Shannon concluded by stating:

When they play a complete ball game...this is what they're capable of...This is the Ravens that we expected to see. For me, for the first time, I saw what this offense could be when Lamar Jackson is playing Lamar Jackson-style football.

The analyst was impressed in the manner that the Ravens managed to pick apart the Detroit Lions, who have had one of the top defenses in the NFL this season. The key to the Ravens’ Super Bowl aspirations is for Lamar Jackson to continue playing like this consistently. That will not be an easy task, but last night, he showed fans that this offense has the potential to be a Super Bowl-caliber one.
