Copper is definitely having a moment in the world of housewares. If you're someone who's drawn to rose gold jewelry (or hair), chances are you'll love having pops of that almost-pink metal in your home. The reason it looks so great in Lauren's kitchen is that everything else in the space is neutral-colored (the white tile and cabinets, black cabinet hardware, plain wood shelves, and clear glass accents). The copper really is the only pop of color in her otherwise neutral kitchen (minus the perfectly staged orange and pink fruit, flowers, and Lauren). Copper can certainly be mixed with other finishes (see Lauren's stainless dishwasher hiding in the corner), but the more copper pieces, the bigger the impact.
5. Her Open Shelves
You've probably seen your fair share of blogs, magazines, and TV shows featuring trendy kitchens foregoing the typical upper cabinets in favor of open shelving. Add Lauren's dreamy kitchen to that list. Open shelves aren't for everyone (hi, mismatched dishes!), but the benefits are clear: Everything is literally at your fingertips, and you can see what you're looking for instead of having to dig through several cabinets for that one mixing bowl. Plus, without the bulk of upper cabinets in your kitchen, you can effectively open up a smaller, cramped space by opting for open shelves that take up less visual space. If you've got sets of dishes that rival the beauties LC has on display, why not show them off? If you don't, see point No. 2 for a couple ideas for filling them up.
6. Her Practical White Sectional Sofa
White furniture is amazing in theory—crisp, light, and the perfect backdrop for whatever colorful patterned pillows and throws strike your fancy that season. But unless you plan on never using your white sofa, or always change into clean pajamas before sitting on it, your white sofa will likely not stay white. Conrad's sofa was the first thing she ordered for their house, but according to her husband's caveat, which sounds like the best idea we've ever heard: "The only way that my husband agreed to a white couch was if we had it upholstered in sunbrella fabric,” she told MyDomaine. “Looking back, it was probably a good call.” We couldn't agree more.
