Cal Fire Firefighters stopped the spread and gained containment on a fast-moving brush fire in Jamul that sparked on Thanksgiving Day, according to the agency.
By 3:43 p.m., forward spread was stopped at 35 acres and firefighters had achieved 5% containment, Cal Fire San Diego wrote on X. The next day, Cal Fire reported the fire had burned 83 acres in total and had reached 50% containment, but on Saturday corrected the acreage back to 39 acres burned and 75% containment.
Shortly after the fire broke out, evacuation orders were issued in Jamul near Lyons Valley Road.
The fire was first reported on the 1300 block of SR-94 across the 13000 block of Vista Sage Lane in Jamul. At around 2:46 p.m., Cal Fire said the fire grew to 30-35 acres with a critical rate of spread and an immediate structure threat to the area.

Evacuation orders
Evacuation orders were given at around 3 p.m. for those in the area outlined below by the county. By 4:38 p.m., evacuation orders were lifted, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
The area under evacuation included those who live on Lyons Valley Road and part of Skyline Truck Trail. It is unknown how many residents have been affected.
Evacuation Center
A temporary evacuation point had been set up at Steele Canyon High School, 12440 Campo Rd, Spring Valley, CA 91978.
Road Closures
SR-94 will remain closed between Vista Sage and Rancho Miguel Roads for a few more hours into Thursday evening, according to Caltrans San Diego. Crews have reopened one lane only throughout the night while crews mop up at the scene.
Drive carefully in the area and be aware of first responders and fire equipment in the area, Caltrans cautioned.
At the height of the fire, SR-94 was closed in both directions between Steel Canyon Road and Lyons Valley Road.
