RMD was born in Delta State on 6 July 1961.
He was a member of the Drama Club at Midwest College, Warri, and Anglican Grammar School. He continued his studies at the University of Benin, where he studied Theatre Arts. Mofe-Damijo returned to the university in 1997 to pursue a degree in law at the University of Lagos and graduated in 2004. He was called to the Nigerian bar in 2005.
Career
Richard Mofe-Damijo began acting in secondary school, but his professional career started in the late 1980s when he starred in the soap opera Ripples. The series catapulted him into the spotlight.
He began his career as a reporter for Metro Magazine, The Guardian, and Concord Newspaper before pursuing acting professionally. RMD’s first film, Out of Bounds, became a hit and helped him acquire further recognition.

RMD married May Ellen “MEE” Ezekiel, a journalist and talk show host. After she died in 1996, Mofe-Damijo married TV personality Jumobi Adegbesan. Jumobi later left TV presenting for a business career.
