Pit bull who lived out bucket list in Montgomery County passes away

A dog who received national attention for her adventures in her final days has passed away.

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. (WTHR) - A dog who received national attention for her adventures in her final days has passed away.

Feisty, a 4-year-old pit bull who was returned back to the animal shelter in Montgomery County twice in the past four years, was the star of the community as she checked off items on her bucket list. The shelter came up with the idea for the list after Feisty was diagnosed with cancer and given just weeks to live.

"We're glad that she's here with us, so we know that she's not going to suffer," said shelter employee Chelsey McCloud.

In addition to adventures dreamed up by the shelter staff, the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County also took suggestions from the community.

Those trips included car rides to get ice cream, a ride in a semi, shopping trips, visits to the police and fire station, spending the day with children and their families and even getting her toenails painted.

"While all of her four years on earth may not have been perfect, because of our community her final months were made up of the things that most dogs could only dream of. Feisty knew the love of Montgomery County and beyond—and for that, the AWL will be forever thankful," the shelter wrote in a Facebook memorial.

The Animal Welfare League is accepting donations to help cover Feisty's final expenses, with extra funds going to help her "fur friends" at the shelter.
