Persona 4 Golden: Every Dungeon, Ranked
Persona 4 Golden follows the investigation team as they explore the TV world and try and figure out who is behind the current string of murders in the quiet town of Inaba. As new people are thrown into the TV, their subconscious is reflected by the TV world, creating a dungeon that reflects who they seem to be.

Dungeons must be completed in a timely manner before the fog rolls in and the current victim is killed by the shadows. As each dungeon reflects the people's subconscious, there are constant gimmicks to make the dungeons more interesting despite their random layout generation.
9 Yukiko's Castle
Yukiko's Castle was the first dungeon you freely explored in the TV world. It is very narratively driven and one of the shorter dungeons as the game is still introducing you to the many mechanics of the game.
The medieval theme was interesting and made it feel natural as you climb to the top fighting other medieval-themed shadows, such as nights and mages. Yukiko's boss fight was a great introduction to the more complex boss fights players will expect from this game, leading to an overall basic but tutorial-style first dungeon.
8 Marukyu Striptease
At this point in the game, the investigation team and players are falling into the usual rhythm of dungeons, with Rise being the latest victim. Her dungeon had an interesting theme that led to a few funny conversations between the Investigation Team.
The unique gimmick of this dungeon was the middle floor, where all the lights were turned off on a massive floor. This wasn't anything game-changing and mostly posed as an annoyance for players who are unable to avoid shadows as easily. The back-to-back boss fights were a different choice that made the end of the dungeon more challenging but it was still an overall bland dungeon compared to others.
7 Steamy Bathhouse
The Steamy Bathhouse was a very different theme than one would expect after their few interactions with Kanji. It began to highlight the difference between a person's shadow and how they act outside the TV. All the previous members' shadows only had a few hidden truths they refused to admit, while Kanji's was a lot deeper and had a much more significant difference than his usual tough-guy routine.
Kanji's boss fight was also a stand-out power check for players, as having three enemies to fight during a boss fight is very challenging. They all had very specific weaknesses and absorptions, keeping you from attacking all enemies at once and leading to a much more interesting boss fight than Yukiko.
6 Void Quest
Void Quest was themed around a videogame with a very old-school soundtrack and an 8-bit design to it. As you climb the dungeon, the different voice-overs that happen as you reach a new floor remind players of much older-style video games while revealing massive plot points.
This dungeon also benefits from the narrative around it, as this is the closest the team gets to who they believe to be the murderer. Instead of chasing victims, you're now trying to find the person behind the murders. This dungeon's gimmick has you backtracking to previous floors, artificially extending its length and making players do something they may not consider on their usual explorations of dungeons.
5 Secret Laboratory
While almost all the dungeons are randomly generated floors, it comes down to the background theme to make the dungeon more interesting for players. The gimmick in this dungeon is another backtrack, with you simply pursuing a different goal in an attempt to reuse the same idea.

This is another dungeon that benefits from the narrative around it, as you're now dealing with another victim despite thinking you've already caught the murderer. Shadow Naoto can be a surprisingly tricky boss fight as she can use almost every element to often hit your parties' weaknesses.
4 Yomotsu Hirasaka
This is the true final dungeon of the game, with players easily missing it if they do not pursue the true ending. This dungeon is pulled straight from ancient Japanese mythology and is themed as such as a dungeon before the underworld.
This entire dungeon is very foreboding, matching the party's feelings as they are now facing a god in an attempt to solve the final mystery of the Midnight Channel and the TV world. This dungeon is also unique as it is cleared in a single day, and this is the only time this happening in the original game's dungeons.
3 Heaven
Heaven is a very deep and emotional dungeon, as it literally represents the image of heaven where Nanako thinks her mom is waiting for her. Being so young in the game, it's incredibly shocking when she gets targeted by the murderer, both for the investigation team and the players who would think she's off-limits.
This dungeon also has one of the best soundtracks in the game, along with incredible visuals of an attempted depiction of the beauty of heaven. This dungeon is also concluded with a great boss fight, which would seem like the end of the game for those who don't know any better.
2 Hollow Forest
While some people may find this dungeon difficult or not fun, it is an excellent change of pace from the usual formula of a dungeon. Players have all of the gear and items taken away and have to collect new things as they travel the dungeon in an attempt to prepare themselves for the final fight.
Having your SP drained in half at the end of each battle can make this dungeon much more difficult, but it adds another way of challenging you, as most characters will be very highly leveled at this point in the game. This final boss and closure to Marie's social link also finally explains her incorporation into the story and answers the many questions posed during her social link.
1 Magastu Inaba/Magatsu Mandala
This dungeon appears after finding out who the true killer is, and chasing them down the distorted views they have of the world, now reflected on a ruined Inaba. This dungeon visually represents the game's themes while also creating a unique and distorted world for players to run through.
Each of the minibosses is unique and difficult in its own way, with this dungeon also possibly sending you back to the beginning for making the wrong move later on. Should this be the final dungeon for the ending you choose to pursue, it is the perfect conglomeration of the game themes and gameplay elements.
