One Piece Fans Are Thrilled to See a Hindu Deity's Reference in the Latest Chapter
One Piece recently released its much-awaited Chapter 1048, and the chapter offered everything that fans expected. Keeping aside the small flashback, the chapter featured Kaido and Luffy launching their new attacks against each other. Well, during that moment, there was also a small reference of the Hindu Deity, Lord Hanuman.
Eiichiro Oda has been giving us back-to-back amazing One Piece chapters. The fight between Kaido and Luffy is still ongoing, and Monkey D. Luffy has finally achieved Gear 5, and this new level has shown us several new abilities of the Straw Hats Pirate’s captain. We’ve seen Luffy becoming a giant to dominate Kaido in his dragon form, and then he caught lightning to use it as a weapon in the fight. However, even with all this the manga has just shown us a glimpse of Luffy’s new powers.
In each chapter, Luffy is revealing a new attack while fighting against the Emperor of the seas, and the previous manga chapter wasn’t any different.

Luffy’s New Attack is Likely Based on Lord Hanuman
Kaido, who is still able to stand against Luffy’s new form, revealed his Flaming Dragon form. In this form, Kaido burned the horn of Onigashima simply by touching it. After that, Kaido challenges Luffy to continue his attack, and as expected, Luffy doesn’t back down. The Straw Hat Pirate captain then launches his new attack called “Gomu Gomu no Bajrang Gun.”
Interestingly, Bajrang Bali, or Lord Hanuman, is deity worshipped in Hinduism. So, several One Piece quickly understood the meaning behind Luffy’s “Bajrang gun” attack. After this, fans also started drawing similarities between Lord Hanuman’s powers and Monkey D. Luffy’s newly found abilities.
I love how Kaido was drawn here. Also, I searched what Luffy's 'Bajrang gun' meant and it said: the monkey chief of Hindu mythology and devoted helper of Rama

In Ramayan, an ancient Sanskrit Epic, there was mention of Lord Hanuman growing in size, and that’s something that we’ve seen Luffy doing in the recent chapters. Apart from this, some fans think that Luffy’s father, Monkey D. Dragon, is somehow inspired from Lord Hanuman’s Father, Vayudev, or the Wind God. In Hinduism, Vayudev is the lord of the winds, and Monkey D. Dragon also had wind related powers because of the Wind Fruit.
Luffy's "Bajrang Gun" is based on "Bajrang Bali"/"Hanumaan", a Monkey God worshipped in Hinduism.

The Chinese Monkey King is also based on him.
Son of Wind God "Pavandev", who tried to eat the Sun during his childhood. Is immortal, & known as the strongest creature to ever live.
Of course, it’s hard to confirm how many of Luffy’s abilities are truly inspired by Lord Hanuman. However, it’s definitely interesting getting small references like these in the manga chapters.
Chapter 1048 of One Piece is now available to read on Viz Media and Manga Plus. You can read the latest chapter for free on both the platforms.
