One Piece Creator May Have Already Revealed True Identity of Luffy’s Mom
Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is a popular anime and manga series. It follows the journey of Monkey D. Luffy, a boy with extraordinary Gum Gum fruit powers (grants him rubber-like abilities) who aspires to become the King of the Pirates.
From the series’ beginning, Luffy’s family history has remained shrouded in mystery. He was born in Foosha Village, a part of the Goa Kingdom in the East Blue Sea. After Luffy’s birth, his father, Monkey D. Dragon, entrusted his care to Monkey D. Garp, who took on the responsibility of raising and training him.
Due to these circumstances, Luffy’s childhood was marked by the absence of his mother, whose identity remains a puzzling mystery in the series.
Although Luffy’s mother is not explicitly mentioned in the story, Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, may have already revealed her true identity.
Mysterious Woman and Baby in One Piece Sparks Speculation About Luffy’s Mother
In chapter #1057, a tie-in to One Piece Film: Red, a mysterious woman holding a baby appears in one panel, sparking fan speculation that she might be Luffy’s mother.
In Shank’s flashback, he was inspired by a woman singing a lullaby to her baby. Later, he sings to his own daughter, Uta, who becomes a famous singer. However, there’s no official confirmation that the figures shown in the panel are baby Luffy and his mother.
Still, because Oda rarely includes things without a purpose, many fans believe this could be the case. The timing doesn’t align with what we know about Luffy’s past, as he first met Shanks when he was six.
Author Eiichiro Oda Unlikely to Focus on Luffy’s Mother
In the final part of the One Piece series, Dragon and the Revolutionary Army hold importance, but the author, Eiichiro Oda, has stated that he won’t include Luffy’s mother in the story due to his lack of interest in that aspect.
Oda has mentioned that he views mother as antithetical to adventure, which is why many characters have either absent or deceased mothers. Therefore, it’s unlikely that Luffy’s mother will play a significant role in the story. If the character introduced in chapter #1057 is indeed Luffy’s mother, it might mark her only appearance.
However, fans can still hope to discover more about her as Luffy’s relationship with his father, Dragon, is further explored in the Final Saga.
