Muyiwa Ademola: The ‘authentic’ man dominating Yoruba-themed movies
At any time there are discussions about the progress of the Yoruba sub-genre of Nollywood, the conversation cannot be complete without mentioning Muyiwa Ademola. He has gone on to achieve great strides in the movie industry and can be considered for the status of a legend.

Muyiwa Ademola was born on January 26, 1971, in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State. He attended St. David’s High School in Molete, Ibadan, Oyo State.
It was when he was in secondary school that Ademola had his first acting experience. A classmate of his who had been cast in a school play once suffered an injury and was unable to participate. His school teacher decided to replace him with the student with Ademola. He was appointed Director of Publicity in the school’s Press Club despite being a science student. On the school’s bulletin board, Muyiwa had a section called “Muyi’s corner” where he pasted short poetry, jokes, and cartoons, amongst others. His English teacher, Mr Aluko, pushed him to start writing scripts while he was still a student, and he eventually published a book called Secrets of Death.
He went to the University of Ibadan and earned a Bachelor of Education in adult education.

Career
After finishing his education, Muyiwa spent around a year working as a sales professional at the Great Nigeria Insurance Company.
He, however, ditched sales marketing for his apparent first love, acting. He was introduced to Nollywood by Charles Olumo, also known as Agbako. Later, he met a film director by the name of S.I. Ola, who instructed him in acting and filmmaking. He officially started his acting career in 1991. He turned in his first screenplay for the 1995 film, Asise (Blunder).
He is recognised as one of the most successful actors in the Nigerian entertainment industry. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Muy Authentic Presentations, a Nigerian production company.
In 2004, Muyiwa opened the Authentic School of Drama in Nigeria intending to develop exceptional performers. Muyiwa founded the MUY Authentic TV YouTube channel in 2015. He serves as a brand ambassador for a real estate company.

Controversy
In January 2017, Ademola, who had been on vacation in the US for some time, described how a fan from Houston, Texas, named Tope Onileowo, sent him a car and an undisclosed sum of money for his role in the movie Ori, which was shot released 14 years ago.

The actor shared the following story on Instagram. He stated that the movie keeps giving him money. He mentioned that Tope Onileowo, the apostle, is the person “he claimed that four months ago, when he first saw ORI, he sobbed, began to pray for me, and God told him to give me money (in dollars), which he began carrying around because I was still in Naija at the time”.
However, some people questioned his version and the authenticity of the story.
