Modelling Cedar Shake Siding - Model Railroader Magazine
John,
Yeah, check out Rusty's; they have a variety of shingle styles. Model shingles can't be made hardly any thinner and still be handled without destruction. Rusty's come in a variety of colors. I applied a thin wash of India ink in alcohol for weathering after installation and didn't notice any curling.
Since Rusty's shingles have one side completely covered with adhesive, they lie flat. To maximize flatness, I rub a round, hard, smooth object (like the opposite-of-the-blade end of an X-acto knife) in a downward direction over the installed shingles.
I've worked with Campbell's. Their shingles aren't any thinner and tend to curl, giving a rough appearance.
