Who’s Boss Baby Brody from America’s Got Talent season 19?

Brody Schaffer, better known by his stage name Boss Baby Brody, is an 8-year-old dancer from Carlsbad, California. He is set to audition for America’s Got Talent during the July 2 episode, but the show has already released a first look at his impressive performance. After taking the stage, Brody captivated the audience with a high-energy dance routine set to Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now.” The performance also featured several backflips, exceptional technique and hilarious facial expressions.

Judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Sofía Vergara were equally as impressed, as was host Terry Crews. “That was incredible,” Crews told Brody’s mom backstage. “Brody you are absolutely incredible,” Klum stated. “I mean you used that whole big stage all for yourself. Perfection.” Mandel agreed and said: “You are amazing in not only your skill, but your expressions and the way you use the stage.” He then asked if Brody was nervous about his performance, to which he confidently answered: “No.”

Even Cowell gave Brody a rave view, noting the significance of his song choice. “You chose a Queen song and the lead singer of Queen was Freddie Mercury. He was one of the best showman on the planet ….  you’ve got that amazing showmanship and confidence.” Vergara added: “I feel like you were also doing a bit of gymnastics and comedy with your face … you are already a superstar.”

As it turns out, Brody is already a superstar — the 8-year-old has amassed millions of followers on social media through accounts managed by his mother. On TikTok, he has over five million followers, and on Instagram, he has more than 800 thousand fans. The accounts feature videos of Brody showing off his dance moves, spunky personality and unique sense of humor. They also boast highlights from his dance competitions and fun videos of him and his three older siblings.

According to his mother, Danielle Schaffer, Brody’s passion for dance began before he could even walk. “Whenever I played music, even though he wasn’t walking, he was always dancing,” she told the San Diego Union-Tribune. “He was a late bloomer in walking. He was 19 months when he started walking, which is really late for any mom. But when he stood up, that was it, he started dancing.”

Of his AGT audition, Brody told the outlet: “I felt like it was going to be really fun and I thought I was going to get the Golden Buzzer. I dance so much – that’s why I wanted to do a lot of competitions because it’s really fun for me.”

Unfortunately, Brody did not receive a Golden Buzzer, but he did get four yesses from the judges, earning him a spot in the next round. He also won the hearts of viewers across America. “Went from trending on TikTok years ago for his personality to dancing at the dance awards to here,” one fan commented on his audition video. They added: “Wow, this kid is making moves and memories at such a young age I love it. Keep being you Brody.” Another fan wrote: “Freddie Mercury would be so happy to see this.” A third chimed in and predicted Brody would win the whole show: “This season’s winner! This darling boy is a maestro. Could not believe my eyes! Can’t wait to see him again!” Several fans also noted that he should have gotten the Golden Buzzer, with one writing: “He deserved a Golden Buzzer. There are no words to express the perfect act this boy did. Marvelous job. Reach for the stars!” Another fan agreed, adding: “How did this not get the Golden Buzzer?! Just wow.”

This season, each judge gets two Golden Buzzers each for the first time in the show’s history. This means there are nine opportunities total for contestants to earn the coveted accolade. So far, Golden Buzzers have been given to comedian Learnmore Jonasi, janitor-turned-singer Richard Goodall, songstress Liv Warfield, drone-show act Sky Elements, Argentinian dance company Legión and Australian dance group Brent Street Dance.
