Makeup Lesson: How to Recreate Debra Messing's Golden Globes Smoky Eye Look

You've got to give Debra Messing props for being a firecracker who isn't afraid to take some risks on the red carpet. And the smoldering eye makeup she wore to the Golden Globes is a perfect example—it's a green-tinted twist on the old smoky-eye standby that might just be enough to snap you out of a beauty rut. Check out the steps and products her makeup artist (and founder of LORAC Cosmetics) Carol Shaw used to get the style:

Carol used LORAC's Color Me Couture Eye Shadow Palette. Here's how she did it:

Step 1: First, she applied the first eye shadow shade in the palette from brow to lash as a highlighter.

Step 2: Then she swept the third eye shadow shade, a warm rosy gold all over the lid and let a little of this shadow peep out over the eye shadow peek out by bringing up and out toward the corner of the eyes.

Step 3: Next, she dusted on the jade green hue in the Color Me Couture Palette on the lid and in the crease.

Step 4: To pump up the beautiful jade shade, she applied Green Room Eye Shadow on top.

Step 5: Then she added a little Black Eye Shadow in the outer corner of the eyes and in the crease.

Step 6: For instant drama, she used Front of the Line Eye liquid liner along the upper lash line and Rich Black Eye Liner along the lower inner rim.

Step 7: She dusted a bit of Green Room Eye Shadow along the lower lash line.

Step 8: She smudged a little bit of Black Eye Shadow to connect the bottom and top lash lines.

Step 9: And, finally, she finished with Black Visual Effects Mascara for some seriously intense lashes.
