Lunch with Valerie Bertinelli: What's YOUR ideal size?
Have you guys all seen the Jenny Craig commercials with Valerie Bertinelli and Queen Latifah? I have to say, I think they're genius! Their current ad campaign is all about an ideal size--but not a number. For Valerie, the goal was to be a "size confident," a "size active," a size "surfer girl." The Queen wants to be a "size healthy." I LOVE the shift in perspective from the tag sewn into our skirt seams to the confidence worn on our sleeves!
I attended a press lunch yesterday with Valerie B. and Dr. Barbara Rolls, the woman who wrote the book on "Volumetrics"--the science behind able to eat more (not less) by choosing foods with a lower calorie density. (She's my kind of woman!) Check out the show-and-tell example she used to make that point:
I have two questions:
1.) Would you rather eat the fast-food version (half of a cheeseburger and half of an order of fries) or a heaping portion of the healthy version (turkey burger and salad galore!)?
2.) If you were starring in your own Jenny Craig ad, what would be your "ideal size?"
I'll start:
1.) The supersize portion of the healthy burger. My eyes are bigger than my tummy!
2.) I'd be a "size athlete," a "size happy" and a "size belly dancer"--just to name a few! (random, I know!)
Your turn!
