Kids, pets barred from Menards under new temporary restrictions

Menards is putting new restrictions on shoppers visiting their stores during the COVID-19 shutdown.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WMTV) - Menards is putting new restrictions on shoppers visiting their stores during the COVID-19 shutdown.

A spokesperson told WMTV the company is now barring anyone under the age of 16 from entering their stores. Customers who look like they may be under that age may be asked to show identification for entry.

Also, pets are no longer allowed in Menards stores under the new temporary restrictions. Previously, shoppers were allowed to bring dogs into the hardware stores. Service dogs are still welcome, the spokesperson said.

Last month, the Wisconsin-based chain had reduced their hours to allow more time for cleaning and sanitizing stores outside of business hours.

The company was given a cease and desist order in Michigan last month after the attorney general's office received several complaints of price gouging on face masks and cleaning supplies in the early days of the coronavirus shutdown.
