Kemi Adetiba is a Nigerian filmmaker and director whose works have appeared on many channels like Netflix.

Her movie King of Boys was the talk of the town. Many fans and other celebrities praised her for their superb work directing the movie.

In addition, Kemi Adetiba is known for her directorial skills. She was once a music producer who worked with many entertainers, including Wizkid, Davido and Waje.

Early life and education 

Kemi Adetiba was born on January 8 1980, in Lagos, Nigeria. Her father, Dele Adetiba, is an advertising and broadcasting icon whose path she followed. Her mother, Mayen Adetiba, is a civil engineer who was the first female engineer to be elected to the Executive Committee of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. She is from Ekiti state, but her mother is Efik.

She had her secondary school education at Atlantic Hall High School. After that, she gained admission to the prestigious University of Lagos, where she studied Law. She was called to the bar a year later.

Kemi Adetiba’s career

Kemi Adetiba was introduced into the entertainment industry by her father at a tender age. She debuted in two television adverts for the famous detergent brand Omo.

She started her career as a radio presenter at the Silver Rhythm 93.7. Kemi Adetiba was the voice behind the radio hit shows named Soul’d Out and Sunday at the Seaside.

Kemi Adetiba made her transition from radio to television by producing and presenting on Mnet; one of such shows is Studio 53.

Similarly, the multi-talented director was also a presenter on Soundcity TV and Martina Dance for three seasons from 2009 to 2012. Her time as a host on these two shows brought her to the limelight.

Furthermore, she also ventured into music. As a music producer, she worked with some of the prominent musicians in the industry. Some of the artists she worked with are Dagrin on the song If I Die, Niyola on Last Bus Stop, Banky W on Lagos Party, Wizkid on Tease Me, Bad Guys and many others.

  • The Wedding Party 1 (2016): The film takes place during the day and evening of the wedding between Dunni Coker, played by Adesua Etomi and Chigozie Onwuka, played by Banky W and their families. The lavish wedding is almost a nightmare that includes exes, fighting parents and uninvited guests. The movie became the highest-grossing Nigerian film with an amount of N 453,000,000. The sequel, The Wedding Party 2 broke the record in 2018.
  • The Wedding Party 2 (2018): This is a sequel to The Wedding Party 1. In the movie, Dozie’s elder brother Mondo continues his romantic relationship with Deirdre, one of Dunni’s bridesmaids and while on a romantic date in Dubai, he mistakenly proposes to her. After a terrible traditional wedding in Lagos, the couple and their families agree to a wedding in Dubai. The movie is currently the third highest-grossing Nigerian movie of all time.
  • King of Boys (2018): Eniola Salami, played by Toni Tones and Sola Sobowale, is a female businesswoman and philanthropist whose hunger for power drives her into politics. Her power struggle begins to threaten everything around her. In her bid to get this power, she loses her children, becoming a very ruthless woman. The movie won Best African Movie in the African Entertainment Awards USA (2021). Actress Sola Sobowale and Adesua Etomi also won awards for Best Actress in a leading role and Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the African Movie Academy Awards.
  • King of Boys: Laburu is coming (2021): The series is a sequel to the first series titled King of Boys. It follows the story of Eniola Salami’s return after 5years in exile. It also follows her quest to become a governor and take her seat back at the table. The series also shows how she overcame all those who were planning to overthrow and kill her.

Kemi Adetiba is an influential entertainer in Nigeria. She is a highly celebrated music producer, movie producer and director. She has an estimated net worth of $1,000,000.

The producer does not have a son or any other children. She believes that marriage and children are not her crowns, and she is not in a hurry to get married.

Meanwhile, in reacting to the poster of the King of Boys 2, Kemi took to her Instagram page to narrate her near-death experience six months before shooting the film. She stated that she had to move to the set straight from the hospital.
