Kate Henshaw Biography

Kate was born on July 19, 1971, in Cross River State. She is the oldest of four children. She attended St. Mary Private School in Ajele, Lagos, for her elementary schooling. She had her secondary school education at the Federal Government Girl’s College in Calabar. She majored in Medical Microbiology in the School of Medical Lab Science at LUTH (Lagos University Teaching Hospital) in Lagos after a year of remedial studies at the University of Calabar.

She worked at the Bauchi State General Hospital in Bauchi, Nigeria. Before becoming an actress, she worked as a model, participating in Shield deodorant’s print and television campaign.

Career

After auditioning, Kate Henshaw was picked for the lead part in the film When the Sun Sets in 1993. This was her first major role in a Nollywood film. She has appeared in over 45 Nigerian films.

For the film Stronger than Pain, she earned the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in 2008.

In 2016, a Twitter user tagged Kate Henshaw in a photo of a two-year-old boy named Michael Alvez, who was born with an ulcerous growth on his face.
