Islam Makhachev might have just secured his title shot for the lightweight belt. The Dagestani walked through Bobby Green at UFC Vegas 49 main event and has the MMA community in awe of his talent as they react on Twitter.
Islam Makhachev was on a 9-fight winning streak heading into this fight and the Dagestani was on a mission to make a strong case for his next title shot. The fighter took on Bobby Green, who agreed to step up on short notice as Beneil Dariush canceled due to injury. Makhachev promised to get a first-round finish and he sure did keep up his word.
The Dagestani is now on a ten-fight winning streak as he makes a quick work of Bobby inside the first round. Makhachev defeats Green via TKO and calls for the title shot. Stars like Kamaru Usman, Daniel Cormier, and others reacted on Twitter after Makhachev gets the win at UFC Vegas 49.

The UFC pound-for-pound champion Kamaru Usman watched the fight live from the UFC studio and was quick to congratulate Islam on his 10th successive win. Daniel Cormier, UFC commentator, and also a teammate of Makhachev at the AKA gym has been rooting for Islam’s title shot for quite some time and he believes the championship fight is next for the Dagestani.
Another person that firmly believes Islam should get the title shot is UFC commentator and broadcaster, Jon Anik. “Can’t make more of a statement than that. 10 wins in a row @ 155 lbs. in the UFC. Title shot secured,” wrote Jon.

Terrance McKinney, who fought at UFC Vegas 49 and also got a first-round win thought the referee was quick to stop the fight. “Early stop but it is what it is, Islam is a monster,” wrote Terrance.
