A jury has awarded a Virginia man $500,000 after he was mocked and insulted by an anesthesiologist during a colonoscopy in 2013.

A jury has awarded a Virginia man $500,000 after he was mocked and insulted by an anesthesiologist during a colonoscopy in 2013.

The Washington Post reports a Fairfax County jury ordered 42-year-old Tiffany M. Ingham and her practice to pay the patient after a three-day trial last week. The newspaper reports the man turned on his cellphone's audio recorder before a colonoscopy in 2013 and was later shocked when he listened to the recording and heard the doctor make contemptuous comments.

The lawsuit states the recording captured Ingham mocking the amount of anesthetic needed to sedate the patient and making insulting comments about a rash on his penis.

One of the jurors, Farid Khairzada, said that there was not much defense, since everything was on tape.
