“It’s an organized thrashing against Djokovic”- Novak Djokovic fans get furious with Discovery+ for omitting Nole from the 2024 Australian Open poster

Novak Djokovic has one of the most potent records in Melbourne Park. Winning the Australian Open for a record ten times, Nole has always dominated down under in Australia. The 2023 Australian Open was also a very successful campaign for the Serb. Beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the finals, Djokovic claimed his 22nd major Grand Slam title in his career, equalling his career-rival Rafael Nadal. In the finals, Nole produced a dominant performance, beating Tsitsipas in three straight sets to clinch the title convincingly.

Even after a dominant title win, Nole was not featured in the poster of the Australian Open. Discovery+ has released the poster of the 2024 Australian Open. The poster features various stars like Rafael Nadal, the 2023 Australian Open women’s singles winner Aryna Sabalenka, Daniil Medvedev, etc. However, there was no place for the defending champion Novak Djokovic in the poster.

The fans have been outraged by the exclusion of Nole from the poster by Discovery+, which now has TV rights in the UK. In one of the tweets a fan wrote, “They have decided to omit the 10-time and reigning champion Novak Djokovic from their promotional advert. But remember it’s not biased against Novak at all, and all players are treated “equally”.”

Novak Djokovic’s fans flood Twitter with their angry outbursts

Novak Djokovic’s fans have expressed their opinions regarding this unfair treatment of Nole. However, this wasn’t the first time Nole had faced such treatment. Earlier this year, Nole was excluded from the nominee list for the sportsmanship award.

Moreover, he also lost the AP Male Athlete of the Year. Nole lost the award to MLB star Shohei Ohtani, even after winning seven titles this year.

Weird that Alcaraz, Sinner and Medvedev are also not featured. Almost as if the person who put it together knows that tennis people will watch it anyway and is trying to appeal to Brits who aren't entirely sure how tennis scoring works.

Could there be a popularity reason for this…
Or is this a conspiracy against Novak!?

Ads in Australia have also omitted him for years.

With the 2024 season of the Australian Open about to commence in January, it would be a good opportunity for Nole to get his hands on his 25th major Grand Slam title. However, with an old foe and career rival returning from injury in January, it will be a battle to witness for the fans, if they come face-to-face. Moreover, with the Paris Olympics around the corner, it will be a crucial season for both of them.
