Is the TikTok video of fisherman Daniel Gomez catching a megalodon shark real or fake after it goes viral

The Daniel Gomez Fisherman video is fake. Multiple sources have debunked this viral hoax. There are claims that Daniel Gomez captured a megalodon. There is no evidence available to support his claim. Everything we see on the internet is not true so we should be cautious while going through information that is not verified.

The spread of misinformation is common on social media. The latest video claims that is trending on social media is that Daniel Gomez who is a fisherman managed to catch a rare megalodon. This news first began trending on TikTok and later on became a hot topic on other social media platforms too.

In August, the TikTok account uploaded another video and revealed that in Operation Big Fish, the megalodon was killed. As per the publisher of the video, Richard Gomez who is a local fisherman followed NASA as he was not assured by their claims.  Later on, he captured the 60-foot fish.

This video has garnered more than eight million views on TikTok. On 5 September 2023, a video was uploaded but this time the name of the fisherman was changed to Daniel Gomez. Except for the change in name, everything else was the same in the video. This video garnered more than ten million views on TikTok. The user claimed that viewers who are interested in vieweing the shark can share the video and use the Google map attached to the video.

It is worth noting that, NASA or any other authority has not yet confirmed the news. Founding an extinct species is something that is not meant to be hidden so this proves that all the claims of capturing the shark are false. This information was shared by the fisherman or the TikTok user just to garner views and likes. If any information is shared on Google Maps then it becomes public and other people can view your photos or videos.
