Indianapolis - Indiana Department of Local Government Finance Commissioner Cheryl Musgrave says she has resigned.
Musgrave tells the Evansville Courier & Press her resignation was effective Friday.
Musgrave, a former Vanderburgh County commissioner, says she looks forward to returning home.
Musgrave was appointed agency commissioner in July 2007. She says she always intended to serve for 18 months. She says she privately told Gov. Mitch Daniels of her intention to resign weeks ago.
The Department of Local Government Finance oversees property tax assessment across the state and local government budgeting by counties, cities, towns and other taxing entities.
