Identifying Bots in Marvel Snap
Bots generally possess very basic names. These are generally one-word names such as “Grayson” or “Carter”. This isn’t the best indicator, considering you will often run into actual players who have similar names. The bots have also become more sophisticated over time and now possess more intricate names.
Similar to names, bots also use basic avatars. Bots almost always use avatars of the base variants. A bot will never use an avatar from a bundle or the season pass. However, a much more rigid way of figuring out whether or not your opponent is a bot is by their deck.
If their deck contains cards like Elektra, Mantis, Blade, Angel, Colossus, or Swarm that are played out for 2 energy. Bots initially used to be unable to play series 4 or 5 cards. This may have changed recently as some players claim that they have faced bots who are playing Modok.
Bots also have some playing patterns they repeat quite often. You may see bots playing move decks where they always play Heimdall on turn 6. They also play Mr. Negative decks a lot and bounce decks which generally leads them to no success.
The biggest indicator is the way a bot plays. If you snap and end a turn, and they also end their turn straight away, your opponent is definitely a bot. If you snap against a human, the game gives them a few seconds to back out of the game. They will not be able to end their turn straight away. If they had ended their turn by the time you snapped, the game would also give them a few seconds to retreat.
Defeating Bots in Marvel Snap
You may also see some cheating bots in the game. You will almost never be able to beat a cheating bot in a 50/50 matchup. Still, bots do have their weaknesses. If you know you are playing against a bot, do not be ahead of them in power. Try and actively lose a few locations, until the last turn when you can finally bounce back.
You want to be playing for one location only and losing in two locations. There are cards that are great for this purpose. Galactus is great against bots and for farming cubes. This is considering that you mostly play the card in situations where you are already losing anyway. Running Daredevil is also a great option. Usually, bots make their turn 5 play after seeing your play. With Daredevil, you get to use their own strategy against them, unless they are running daredevil themselves.
