Guide for KINGDOM HEARTS - HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX
Welcome to the End of the World, the last area in Kingdom Hearts. By this point, you should have rescued all the dalmatians, unlocked all the Trinity Marks, completed the Hades Cup, and completed about half of the synthesis recipes. Arriving at the End of the World most likely earned you the Achievement for traveling all gummi ship routes, as well.
There are a few save points you can use to leave if the enemies prove too difficult, but unless you are severely under-leveled, difficulty shouldn't be that much of a problem. I'm going to say this once at the top so that I don't keep repeating it: Aeroga is PHENOMENAL in the upcoming boss fights. Keep it up all the time.
Sora lands at the Gate to the Dark. This will update and complete Sora's Story in Chronicles, and if you've completed all the other Worlds, this will unlock an Achievement. Please see KH1: Jiminy's Journal for more information, especially if it doesn't unlock. You are most likely missing 100 Acre Wood or Monstro.
Head forward into the Final Dimension for a scene. There will be multiple unavoidable fights during this sequence, and while you will see treasure chests during the fights, you can't actually open them.
The path here is actually fairly linear. The small chunks of earth actually act as little arrows, pointing the way. Open the chests as you find them for the following items: Mythril Shard, Pretty Stone, Mega-Potion, Mythril, Elixir, Mythril Shard, Pretty Stone, Cottage, Gale, AP Up.
If you haven't done the Hades Cup at Olympus Coliseum, you will run into the Invisible and Angel Star enemies here. The fourth chest, a red one, takes you to a battle against the Arch Behemoth. Compared to the other two Behemoth's you've fought, this one is incredibly easy. It has a chance to drop a Mythril Shard. Enter the swirling mass of energy at the end to proceed.
You will fight another Arch Behemoth, and while this one is a little stronger, it should be no match for Sora and co. at this point. Defeating it drops the group into the Giant Crevasse. There are a few chests here to pick up before continuing.
Start by moving forward to the other end of the crevasse, staying on the upper levels. At the end, you can glide across the gap to some vines that lead up to the highest level. See the screenshot below. There is a chest up here that holds a Dark Matter.
Glide back towards the start, but drop down a level or two until you see a chest on Sora's left. This holds a Drill-G piece. Look over the ledge towards the far wall to see another chest, this one with an Ultima-G inside. Scale the wall using the ledges, the Glide over to the thin walkway that spans the crevasse. From here you can see a chest further into the area. Open it for the Meteor Strike.
In roughly the center of the area is a closed-off space that Sora can only enter by jumping in from above. There is an easy battle against a few Angel Stars, and then a red block will disappear. Drop down this hole for a chest, and open it for a Full-Life-G.
That should be it for chests here. Locate the shining portal in the ground, use the save point next to it, then jump in.
Sora is now traveling across about a dozen floating islands in World Terminus. Use the blue lights to progress, and the green lights to head backwards. Each platform has a large pillar of purple flame. Entering these pillars momentarily takes Sora to a previous World, where he can open a chest after fighting off some Heartless.
These are all optional, however, you should enter the Neverland portal to get Goofy's Mighty Shield. There is a save point in the Hundred Acre Wood portal, which is green instead of purple.
The Worlds and their rewards are listed below.
| World | Reward | World | Reward |
| Traverse Town | Spirit Gem | Atlantica | AP Up |
| Wonderland | Thunder Gem | Halloween Town | Lucid Gem |
| Olympus Coliseum | Frost Gem | Neverland | Mighty Shield |
| Deep Jungle | Bright Gem | Hundred Acre Wood | Megalixir |
| Agrabah | Blaze Gem | Hollow Bastion | Elixir |
Speedrun: If you skipped over Olympus Coliseum and Atlantica, you MUST complete the waves of combat at those World's platforms in order to proceed. If you are running low on time, feel free to skip any rewards that you don't need.
The final pillar, made of red flames, leads Sora to a previously unexplored room in Hollow Bastion. There is a computer console here with some dialogue, and it spawns two Invisibles after you read it. Return to the floating islands and continue down through the hole in the floor. Up next is a boss battle against Chernabog.
Speedrun/Unchanging Armor/Undefeated: This next section of the game is very difficult. You start with a boss battle, then immediately go into very long combat with multiple waves. I cannot stress how important Tinker Bell is during this sequence. If you are having trouble, consider leaving the End of the World and grinding out some levels. If you are doing all three Achievements on the same save, use the save you (hopefully) just made at the Hundred Acre Wood portal as a hard save, and proceed through the rest of the game only doing one. It will make everything that much easier.
Boss: ChernabogRemember the second fight against Ursula? Well, it was training you for this fight right here. The big gargoyle can only be damaged by attacking it's head, and it has a variety of attacks to stop you from doing just that.
The big threat here is the pillar of flame it summons from the volcano it stands in. There are a few seconds of buildup before it appears, so if see flames around it's body, fly away. As Chernabog loses more health, the area effect of the pillar increases.
Chernabog will also breathe fire in a low arc, but this is easily avoidable by flying straight up. Later on, it will push you away with a gust from it's wings, and summons green balls of energy that home in on Sora, similarly to Dragon Maleficent.
If you are having trouble, note that you can land on the ground below Chernabog and Summon Tinker Bell.
The group learns the shared ability Superglide after the fight. Descend into the now calmed volcano, and follow the doorways and portals to a large room. This battle starts against another Behemoth. Afterwards, waves upon waves of Heartless will appear. For an indicator of how far through the gauntlet you are, look for the Heartless symbol on the wall. Pieces of it crumble off as each wave is defeated.
Head through the symbol when it is destroyed to reach the Final Rest, open the chest for a Megalixir, and use the save point here. There is a familiar door here that leads to the final boss.
You can load up this save file after you defeat Ansem to keep playing, so if there are things you haven't done yet, don't worry. You can also come and go from the gummi ship to this point, so if you want to back out and level up some more or get better accessories, go for it.
Passing through the door brings Sora back to the Destiny Islands...kind of. There is nothing here to find, so head into the Secret Place for some scenes, then approach Ansem.
Boss: Ansem, Phase 1Yup, there are multiple phases. Get ready for a long, drawn-out, Final Fantasy-esque boss fight.
Ansem has a friend, the Guardian, that is connected to his back. He will call the Guardian to protect his front, but this exposes his back to attacks if you can get behind him. When the Guardian throws out chakrams, Sora can deflect them back for some tech experience and a small amount of damage to Ansem.
The thing to really look out for is when Ansem yells "Submit!" and the Guardian attacks with a claw. Anyone caught in it's grasp is cursed. If it is Sora, random commands will turn into Freeze, which stops whatever you are doing. This lasts for entirely too long, and Ansem can get in quite a few good hits. Oddly enough, I was pretty consistently able to get several aerial combos on Ansem while this effect was up, and it appeared to shorten the duration.
Ansem flies away after this first combat and summons a small arena in the center of the island. Entering the arena starts combat against another Darkside. Take a moment if you need it to restock Sora's Items. Donald and Goofy are taken away for the next section.
You shouldn't need any help with this. Attack either hand or the head when available, dodge the energy blast and fist attacks, beat up the Shadows for HP orbs. As soon as Sora defeats it, however, he enters a solo fight against Ansem.
Boss: Ansem, Phase 2He has all the same attacks as before, plus a few new ones. Much like the second Riku fight in Hollow Bastion, Ansem will torpedo around the arena, dealing significant damage. Unlike Riku, however, Sora can Guard against this to stop it. The Guardian will also shoot out two beams of light along the ground, but if Sora is directly in front of Ansem or up in the air, the beams can miss.
Later on, Ansem will float to the center and everything will turn dark. Dodge Roll around to avoid the Guardian as it attacks from under the floor, then waits until the light returns to attack again.
There is a quick scene within the abyss, and then Sora gets to fight...sigh...Boat Ansem.
Boss: World of Chaos, Phase 1Much like Chernabog the gargoyle and Ursula before, fly up to the man-part of Boat Ansem and let loose with all your attacks. Ansem will occasionally summon some lasers from somewhere that will attack. Just fly around a bit until they go away, or take the attacks. There are these weird little bat Heartless that show up as well, and they drop HP orbs if they die.
Sora enters a portal inside Boat Ansem, where he fights a wave of Shadows. Kill them all, then attack the...I don't know, gland? Tendon? Whatever it is, after destroying it Sora is ejected out, and he must destroy a bunch of weird turret things on the boat. He gets pushed away occasionally, but it's more of an inconvenience than anything else. After they are destroyed, enter the boat again to find Goofy.
Boss: World of Chaos, Phase 2Oh boy! Attack the head! Avoid the lightning! That's it!
Enter the mouth of the boat to find Donald. With the team back together, fly into the central space of the boat and attack the weird purple tumor thing with a face. You can attack the turrets for some experience if you need it.
This works just like Phase 1, except now you have two friends. You can land on the ground at any point to summon Tinker Bell if you need the health.
Oh, Ansem occasionally summons a black hole behind you, but for the longest time, I thought it was a wind gust attack just like Chernabog. I only saw the black hole by accident while writing this paragraph. As long as you keep flying towards Boat Ansem, you'll be fine.
By defeating Boat Ansem, if you've done it in fewer than 15 hours, an Achievement will unlock.
Sit back and watch about 20 minutes of cutscenes, the last 15 of which are unskippable credits. At the end of it all, you will unlock any of the following Achievements that you qualify for.
SO, WHAT'S NEXT?
If you've enjoyed your time with Kingdom Hearts, and you want to move on to the next game, then do it! Up next is Re: Chain of Memories, and you should start with the Walkthrough Overview for that game to learn more about it.
On the other hand, there is still a lot left to do here in KH1. There are five secret bosses to defeat, as well as gummi ship routes and completing all the synthesis recipes. Don't forget to complete all the various permutations of the tournaments at Olympus Coliseum, getting all the weapons, and leveling Sora up to 100.
So, where should you start? It will be very helpful to get all of the synthesis items to unlock the best weapon: the Ultima Keyblade. Begin in Traverse Town, and go through each World in order gathering up whatever items you need. Please see the KH1: Synthesis Guide page for all the information you need. Each World page also has specific information on the Heartless and items you can find there. You should also complete the final Solo Challenges and Time Trials in Olympus Coliseum.
The last three synthesis recipes are weapons for Sora, Donald, and Goofy. Assuming you did all the other collecting on the way for the other weapons, you will get the Ultima Keyblade, Fantasista Staff, and Seven Elements Shield.
While doing this, you will level Sora up and be ready to take on the extra bosses. They are Kurt Zisa in Agrabah, the Ice Titan and Sephiroth in Olympus Coliseum, Phantom in Neverland, and ? in Hollow Bastion. While it is incredibly useful to have the Ultima Keyblade for these battles (gained via synthesis), it is not required. I was able to take them all on using the Divine Rose. For the sake of this guide, however, it is assumed that you do these fights after completing all synthesis recipes.
You can also replay the game, going for the Achievements you didn't get your first time, like Speedster or Unchanging Armor.
SYNTHESIS ITEMS
There are three enemies here that drop synthesis items.
Land at the Final Rest, and return to the room where you fought the Arch Behemoth. You will get one of three spawn groups here. The first, and most consistent, is a handful of Angel Stars and Invisibles. If you need any more Gales, fight the Angel Stars here to get some. They drop pretty consistently.
The second most frequent are the White Mushrooms. In my experience, this is the best place to get the Spell Arts for Gravity, Stop, and Aero. Once you have these three, go back to an early area, like Deep Jungle, to get the other four. You can also get a handful of Mystery Goo if you still need some at this point. If you have all seven, visit Merlin in Traverse Town to get Goofy's Dream Shield.
Finally, you are looking for Neoshadow. Treat them like Shadows on steroids, as that's basically what they are. Along with the regular Shadow abilities, they can warp around and even grab Sora's leg, preventing him from moving or attacking. Much like the Gigas Shadows in Wonderland, you want to keep Aero up for this whole fight, as the Neoshadows hit fast and hard. Defeat all of them that spawn for a chance at getting a Stormy Stone.
You need a total of 4 Stormy Stones to complete all synthesis items.
