Guide for DOOM Eternal - Battlemode
The achievements for Battlemode don't require any particular skill, but they do require you to put some time into the mode, especially if you are earning the achievements without boosting. This walkthrough will include both a guide for the best way to boost the achievements as well as some tips for how to do them legitimately.
If you haven't already, I recommend completing the single-player campaign before starting Battlemode. This will familiarize you with the Slayer controls, the movement, and the weapons.
Boosting Method
If you're boosting the Battlemode achievements, you'll need exactly three players. All of these achievements can be boosted in private matches, so you won't have to worry about trying to match each other. The most likely scenario is that all three boosting players will need the achievements, so this walkthrough will be written with that in mind.
First, have everyone join into one player's private lobby. One player will select the Slayer, while the other two players will select Revenants. Start the match.
When the game starts, have everyone meet in the middle of the map. Between rounds, all players will be able to select an upgrade. The Slayer can pick whatever upgrades they want until they complete the third round. After the third round, they should pick the upgrade that gives them the BFG-9000. The Revenants can pick whichever upgrades they want as long they choose Bigger Bar, but they must pick the Instant Resurrect upgrade. Alternate winning rounds (Slayer wins the first round, Demons win the second round, and the slayer wins the third round) until you reach the fourth round.
The Slayer should then kill one Revenant. While this first Revenant is waiting to respawn, the living Revenant should weaken itself to low health by shooting rockets at its feet. The splash damage is small, but this counts as a demon inflicting damage, so it works towards an achievement. Whenever it is available, the Revenants should use the Instant Resurrect
to speed up the process. The Slayer will likely be getting attacked by other demons during this time, so they should try to avoid their fire and use the AI demons for health, armor, and ammo. Once the first Revenant the Slayer killed respawns, the Slayer should kill the other Revenant that has weakened themself, but a different weapon should be used this time. While this Revenant is respawning, the first Revenant will do the same process of weakening themselves with their own rockets. Repeat the entire process, killing one Revenant with each of the eight different Slayer weapons (including the BFG-9000) and having the other weaken itself. This will rack up a ton of kills for the Slayer, but make sure you don't accidentally have both Revenants dead at the same time, as this will end the round.
Once each Revenant has dealt 5000 damage to itself, they will unlock:
It will take quite a while, but once the Slayer gets 200 kills with all 8 different weapons, they will unlock:
All three achievements will pop mid-game. Once the Slayer gets 200 kills with 8 weapons and the Revenants each deal 5000 damage, have everyone quit or end the game and start up another private match. Have a different player select the Slayer and have the other two players pick Revenants. Repeat the entire process until all three players have all three achievements.
The next achievement is for healing yourself and your teammate for a total of 50,000 health. Start a private lobby and have one player pick the Slayer and have the other two players each pick a Mancubus for their increased health. Before starting the match, make sure the demon players use in the lobby to open their loadouts, then use
to pick their action set. Make sure both demon players have their Mancubus loadout set to Support, rather than Tanker. Once these are set, start the match.
Have everyone meet in the middle of the map. Between rounds, all players will be able to select an upgrade. It doesn't really matter what the Slayer picks, but the demons should pick Bigger Bar after the first round and Team Heal after the third round. Alternate winning rounds (Slayer wins the first round, Demons win the second round, and the slayer wins the third round) until you reach the fourth round. The Slayer should weaken both demon players to low health, then one Mancubus should use a Team Heal . The Slayer should weaken both demons again and that same Mancubus should use a Healing Zone by selecting it
and then deploying it
. The Healing Zone will spawn where your reticle is pointing, so be sure to aim it at the feet of yourself and the other Mancubus. Once the Healing Zone runs out, have the Slayer lower the health of both demons once again. At this point, the second Mancubus should use Team Heal, get weakened by the Slayer again, and use Healing Zone on both demons. Repeat this process and alternate which Mancubus is using their healing until both demons get the achievement. During the match, both demons will unlock:
Once both demon players unlock the achievement, end the game and start a lobby with the player who was previously the Slayer as a Mancubus. Have this player repeat the process outlined above, but the second Mancubus should not do any healing. Eventually, the player who was the Slayer in the first round will unlock the achievement.
The last two achievements are much less involved. You'll have to complete 25 matches, so start a private lobby with one player as the Slayer and two other players as demons. If you have been following the walkthrough so far, everyone will have already played as two demons (the Revenant and the Mancubus). In order to get an achievement, you'll have to play as all 5 player demons at least once. The two demon players should pick a demon they haven't played as yet with and
from the lobby screen. Once they have picked new demons, start the game.
Have everyone meet in the middle of the map. The two demon players should kill the Slayer as quickly as possible. Repeat this for all three rounds. Once the game is over, both demon players should pick any new demon they haven't used before except the Dread Knight and start again. Once again, have everyone meet in the middle and have the demon players kill the slayer for all three rounds.
When the demon players have completed a game as the Archvile, Marauder, Pain Elemental, and the Mancubus and Revenant from earlier, they will unlock:
After both demons unlock the achievement, the Slayer should swap with one of the demon players and repeat the process until they unlock the achievement as well. All players should continue having the demons kill the slayer as quickly as possible until they have completed 25 games.
Once you complete 25 games, everyone will unlock:
Non-Boosting Method
While the Battlemode population isn't nearly as active as it is on PC, you can still usually find matches on Xbox.
First, we'll work on the demon achievements. Go into an online match for Battlemode and queue as a demon. When you get into a lobby, select the Revenant using , use
to open the loadouts menu, then use
to pick a loadout. From this menu, make sure you have your loadout set to Defensive.
Once you start the game, find a corner where you can avoid the attention of the Slayer. Simply shoot rockets at the floor below you to hurt yourself with the splash damage; this counts as dealing damage as a demon. Be sure to use
then click
to use a Healing Zone on yourself when your health is low so you can inflict more damage to yourself per round. Picking the Bigger Bar upgrade at the end of the first round will speed up this process ever so slightly.
If at any point the Slayer finds you and starts attacking you, immediately stop shooting yourself and focus on shooting them. You will most likely lose the fight anyway, but at least you'll have the opportunity to do some more damage.
Once you have dealt 5000 damage to yourself, the Slayer, or other non-playable demons, you will unlock:
After unlocking this achievement, queue into a match as a Mancubus with your loadout set to Support. Try and tank some damage, then get away from the Slayer so you can use another Healing Zone ( then click
). Alternatively, you can also damage yourself by shooting fireballs
at the floor below you while healing yourself with the Healing Zone. If possible, try to get the other player demon into the zone to heal both of you, but don't risk your life attempting this. Select Bigger Bar after the first round and Team Heal after the third round (if you make it that far) to make this process faster. Ideally, use Team Heal
when both you and your teammate are at low health to maximize your health regeneration.
Once you have healed yourself or your teammates for a total of 50,000 health across several games, you will unlock:
Afterward, complete three more matches as a demon. For each match, make sure you choose a demon you have not played as before. Since the Dread Knight was added in a post-launch update, you will not need to play as one to unlock the next achievement. If you are following this guide, you will have already played as a Revenant and a Mancubus, meaning you'll have to complete a match as a Marauder, a Pain Elemental, and an Archvile. Try to kill the Slayer during these matches where possible, but don't worry if you can't.
Once you have completed a match as each of the five playable demons, you will unlock:
Next, we'll start the achievements that are easier as a Slayer. Queue into a Battlemode match by picking the Slayer option.
First, you'll want to get a kill with each weapon from the Slayer's arsenal, including the BFG-9000. In order to use the BFG in Battlemode, you have to make it to round four and pick the corresponding upgrade for it. The BFG's tendrils will not be very useful like they are in the campaign, so aim for a direct hit on a demon to instantly kill it. If there are any Mancubi or Pain Elementals in the game, try to hit them since they have a more generous hitbox. Getting close to them is likely your best option, but beware of their damage. You only get one shot with the BFG, so make it count.
Once you have killed a player demon with each weapon from the Slayer's arsenal, you will unlock an achievement at the end of the match:
As the Slayer, complete matches while killing as many player demons as possible. There isn't really any advice to give for these achievements other than to make sure you're using the AI demons to refill on health, armor, and ammo when necessary. Pick whichever upgrades fit your play style, as they aren't too consequential. After completing 25 matches (including the matches where you played as a demon), you will unlock:
Finally, after killing a total of 200 opponents as the Slayer and as a demon, you will unlock:
If you have been following this entire walkthrough so far, congratulations on completing the base game for Doom Eternal!
