Guide for Banjo-Tooie - Terrydactyland

Terrydactyland

terrydactyland map

On the left side of the screen after entering is a warp pad. Go into the level a bit and you'll see a pillar ahead with a button on the side of it, lob a grenade egg at it to unlock a cage to save a Jinjo later. Go past the pillar to the stone ramp and head into the door.

Inside the Mountain

Take a left up the ramp and exit.

Terrydactyland

There's a big caveman guy up ahead with armour. Use your new clockwork eggs, shoot one above so it lands behind him, and then steer the bomb into his backside, press cn_X to detonate. Drop down to the right to find 3 notes on grassy hills (15/100). Jump in the water and locate the Kazooie button on the other side underwater. Talon Torpedo it to open a cage with a Jinjo (25/45) for you to save. Cross the water to the right, around the corner to the left are two alcoves with Turbo Trainers and Wading Boots. Take the trainers and head back to the water, across it to the left is an alcove with an Empty Honeycomb (14/16). Go back to the Wading Boots and use them to cross the swamp water towards Mumbo's Skull. Head up the ledges to activate a warp pad. Go behind the skull to get a Glowbo. Now cross the swamp back using the tiny platforms, if you fall in you'll get attacked.

Go left and cross the narrow pathway. On the other side, take a sharp left and go up a ledge to find a boulder, drill it for a Treble Clef (35/100). Turn around and cross over to the platform that has a button on it, activate it to open the train station here. Turn right and up some ledges is Wumba's wigwam, climb up and activate the warp pad. Turn left and there's a red/yellow tunnel, go through it and then carefully drop to the green ledge below and cross it.

There are some cages ahead with a small hole in between them, send a clockwork Kazooie into the hole. After the camera shifts around, go to the right side of the screen and into the first hole. You'll be behind another armoured caveman, go to his back and blow up. Back as Banjo, go right of the cage where the caveman was to find another hole, send a clockwork egg again in and use it to save the Jinjo (26/45). Turn around and behind the pillar is a ramp going up to the right, Talon Trot up and through the door.

Styracosaurus Family Cave

The beehive ahead is evil so destroy it with a grenade egg. Go up the ramp to the left and Bill Drill the boulder to reveal a jump pad. Use the Split-Up Pad behind it and swap to Kazooie, then use the jump pad to reach an Empty Honeycomb (15/16). Go to the right side in front of the dinosaurs to find another boulder, break it to reveal a Mumbo Pad. Exit the cave.

Terrydactyland

Go around the corner to the right and you'll see a door with 3 notes around it, collect them (45/100) and then go in the door.

Train Station (Terrydactyland)

Over on the right across a gap is another caveman. In the first-person view, aim a clockwork egg a bit above his head and to the left and it should land on the platform, steer it behind him and blow up. Drop down below and press cn_B in front of the sign to summon the train here. Go inside the train and jump on the Go button, choose Witchyworld.

Witchyworld

Train Station - Witchyworld

The dinosaur we saved earlier will hop on board. Take the train back to Terrydactyland.

Terrydactyland

Train Station (Terrydactyland)

Exit the train station.

Terrydactyland

Go left up the grassy ledges to find a hatch, use it to learn how to use Springy Step Shoes. You're near the world entrance, jump down and head left to use the warp pad and head to Wumba's wigwam. Go inside and give her a Glowbo so you can turn into T-Rex Banjo, then exit. The enemy dinosaurs are friendly to you while in this form, so drop down and find the nearest one. He'll teach you how to roar by pressing or holding cn_X. Go back up to the wigwam and behind it is a T-rex door you can open by roaring, go inside.

Inside the Mountain

Grab a Cheato page (13/20), then turn around and leave.

Terrydactyland

Around to the left (to the right if you're looking at the door to Wumba's wigwam) is a small path up with a sign saying Path to Nest. Open the T-rex door and head in. Follow the path with 3 notes (65/100). At the end turn left to find a Jiggy in a cage. Roar in front of it in this order: Short, short, long, short, long, long. The door will open and you can grab the Jiggy (36/70). Go back across gaps where you got the notes, stay along the cliff ahead and drop down as you go to make it back to the wigwam. Go in and become regular Banjo, then exit.

Grab the Springy Step Shoes to the left of the wigwam. Remember you only get one super high jump with these each time you use them. Go back to the Path to Nest sign and jump up to it, then take a left into the door.

Unga Bunga's Cave

Simply hit the button to open the door, it will be important later. Turn around and exit.

Terrydactyland

Turn left up the ramp. The gap path will be ahead of you with a red tunnel to the left. There's an armoured caveman in here, and the tunnel goes to the other side, but he'll simply turn around if you go that way. So you need to launch a clockwork egg, jump along the gap path, and go in the back entrance to blow him up. Go through the tunnel he was in. There are Springy Step Shoes on the left next to the second Path to Nest sign, use them to go up but be careful not to jump forward too much or you'll fall. Jump across the gap.

Follow the path down, grabbing the 3 notes (80/100). Turn left into the red door.

Unga Bunga's Cave

Unga Bunga, the caveman who we took a Jiggy from a while back is here, he will let you in. Go forward and step on the button to open the gate. High jump into the alcove ahead on the right. Go through, watch out for the evil beehive, and use the Split-Up Pads. As Kazooie, turn around go through the green tunnel, then drop down to talk to Jamjars and learn the Hatch move. Turn around and carefully jump up the ledges, go back to Banjo to reunite. Now go back to Unga Bunga and past him to the right are Springy Step Shoes in an alcove. Grab them and leave the cave, note that the shoes have a time limit.

Terrydactyland

Quickly but carefully head right around the twisty ledge and up the ramp. Get to the Path to Nest sign and super high jump up. A pterodactyl will start attacking you from afar. Talon Trot and run up the path to the right, dodging the projectiles and jumping gaps as they come. Along the way is a warp pad. Head along the narrow bridge to the right, kill the flying enemies first with grenade eggs to make it safe, then go in the door.

Bonfire Cavern

Shoot the flying enemy with a grenade egg, then use ice eggs on the fires to be able to safely jump across. Go through the next door.

Stomping Plains

Activate the warp pad. In this area is a huge dinosaur that will stomp you. You're supposed to use the marked path to avoid it but there's another option. We can use the golden feathers to cross safely, hold cn_LT or cn_RT then right on the right stick and simply head straight across (you can ignore the path) to make it to the blue-ish area with 3 buttons. Hit the button on the right side and grab the Jiggy (37/70). Jump left up to the stairs and go through the door. You'll end up back at the start of this area.

We need to cross again but just as Kazooie, so use the Split-Up Pads. We can't use the golden feathers so you'll need to hide in the footprints to avoid stomps. Jump in the first footprint, wait for a stomp, quickly jump out to the next (press cn_A as soon as the stomp hits the ground). Then wait for another stomp before jumping out, repeat until you get to the other side. Hit the Kazooie button on the left to save a Jinjo (27/45). Jump up the stairs and go back to reunite with Banjo, he's not fast enough to get across yet. Use the warp to the top of the mountain.

Terrydactyland

Keep following the path along the cliff. Enter the door.

Terry's Nest

Go left and into the bright door for a boss fight.

Boss: Terry (Disgruntled Pterodactyl Parent)

The camera will change to high above you. Terry will shoot in front of your path, so you can't just run away in one direction, try running in small circles to avoid the shots. When the camera goes back to normal, go into first-person and lob a couple of grenade eggs at him. Some green goop enemies will spawn, take them out. Terry comes back and you have to dodge again, then shoot more grenade eggs when you're able to. Another round of green blobs, roll into them all. If you do enough damage you can defeat him this next round, either way, just keep repeating the same strategy. Once you win, Terry will give you a Jiggy (38/70). You can also drill the crack in the middle of the nest to fall through.

Inside The Mountain

Another Jiggy (39/70) is here, jump back out using the pad.

Terry's Nest

Exit the nest through the door. Go back down the ramp and into the door we entered this area from.

Terrydactyland

Go down to the warp pad and go to the world entry. Go down and left towards the grassy area with the lake. On one side of the lake is a waterfall, and to the left of that is an entrance into the mountain. Go inside.

Inside The Mountain

Turn right and jump over to use the Split-Up Pads. As Kazooie, go across the water here and a bit to the left to an alcove with a flying. Use it and fly, way high up, aiming at the opposite side of the room. If you mash cn_A it takes about 8 or 9 feathers. You should see a big egg above a vine, you need to fly into the alcove. Kazooie can't climb the vine so make sure to land right beside the egg, you can't use cn_X to cancel it since you'll take damage so just slowly float down to the ground. Use the Hatch move (jump on the egg and hold cn_LT or cn_RT then hold cn_X). The baby dinosaur will fly off.

Go down and reunite with Banjo. Go across and use the flying pad again, this time land at the base of the grey pillar in the middle of the room. Beak Barge the button to make a bridge appear, then use the Springy Step Shoes to go up the pillar. You'll get swallowed up by a big dinosaur, you have to do an FPS segment to shoot all his ulcers. Same colour point convention as always, you need 75 points within 60 seconds. You should easily get more than enough points with little issue. For winning, you receive a Jiggy (40/70). Exit the dinosaur. Locate the bridge you raised and follow it back through the door outside.

Terrydactyland

Take a sharp left in the water to the waterfall. Behind it is a vine, climb up it and head inside.

River Passage

To your right is a slanted platform, use Talon Trot to go up to find an Empty Honeycomb (16/16). Turn around and start heading down the river tunnel, on the left side of it is a shallow path so you can run instead of swim. When that path ends, you'll see an electric eel below. Avoid it or shoot it with a grenade egg, then collect the 4 notes along the outer edges underwater (100/100). On one side of this room is a thin ledge you can grab and head left on. Climb up to use the Split-Up Pads, stay as Banjo. They want you to shoot some enemies so you can climb along another ledge but there's a trick we can do. Go across the water to where you can see the hatch and use the double jump trick (cn_A, then cn_X, then cn_A again) to get up. Use the hatch to learn the Taxi Pack move which lets you carry certain things as solo Banjo.

Jump in the water and use the ledge again to reunite with Kazooie. Go down the other river passage (it's the same direction as the ledge you just used) and exit.

Terrydactyland

Take a sharp right onto a thin ledge, follow it around the corner to find a Glowbo. Go back to the water and get on the platform in the middle of it. There's the last armoured caveman ahead of us, shoot a clockwork egg over to the left ledge where a hole is. Go through the hole and blow him up. Shoot a second egg to collect the Jiggy (41/70). Now go to the left edge of this lake, if you look down left you should see Wumba's wigwam and the warp pad in front of it. Glide down to that warp pad and take it to Mumbo's Skull.

On the left of the skull is a ledge, grab it and go along, killing the enemy. At the end is a Cheato page (14/20) under a boulder. Turn back and go inside the skull to give Mumbo the Glowbo. Exit as Mumbo, if you go down the ledges you can use the Mumbo Pad to make those tiny platforms bigger. Take the warp pad to Wumba's wigwam and use the Mumbo Pad to enlarge that too. Look left and head into the red/yellow tunnel. On the other side, take a right and there's a thin ledge here, jump on and follow it then go inside.

Styracosaurus Family Cave

Use the Mumbo Pad up on the ledge. Turn around and exit.

Terrydactyland

Head down the ramp and keep going the same away around the corner, on the left is the world entrance. Use the ward pad back to Mumbo's Skull. Turn back into Banjo and Kazooie. Now exit and warp to Wumba's wigwam. Go inside and transform into T-Rex Banjo, you'll be bigger now. If you didn't get the achievement earlier for 20 kills as Mumbo, using the big T-rex also counts. Exit the wigwam and go into the red/yellow tunnel on the left again. Take a right across the water and around the corner a bit, look across to see a ramp going up to the left. Climb it halfway and you'll see Unga Bunga above you. Use a roar to scare him off.

Head back to the red/yellow tunnel, it's a bit tough to get across the thin green path but it's doable. On the right is a large T-Rex switch, stand on it and the cage nearby will open for 35 seconds. Get back to the wigwam to transform back into regular Banjo, and quickly go back to the cage to grab the Jinjo (28/45). Go through the red/yellow tunnel yet again, directly ahead past the pillar (keep this pillar in mind) are Split-Up Pads above on a platform. Turn into solo Kazooie and then go back to the base of that pillar. From here you can jump and float over to the Springy Jump Shoes on the green platform. Use the shoes to jump to the top of the pillar.

Use the flying pad and turn towards the world entrance, it's not too far around the corner (going clockwise around the mountain). Face directly away from the entrance down low. Remember that Jinjo we opened the gate too way at the start? Land in the alcove and save him (29/45). Alternatively, you can try and lob a clockwork egg inside the alcove to pick up the Jinjo and keep flying, but it's tricky. If you landed, make your way back to the flying pad and use it again.

This time head counter-clockwise around the mountain, either through the red/yellow tunnel or above it over the raised lake. Off to the right, you should see an area blocked off by a rock wall with a raised rectangle piece on it. In the blocked off area on the ground is a hole, land and go through it. There's a Cheato page here, normally you need to come back later to obtain it, but here's a trick: Aim a clockwork egg directly at the page and you'll pick it up (15/20).

Climb out of this area, go through the red/yellow tunnel and get back to the flying pad. Use it and fly clockwise towards the lake on the lower level, there's an egg on the platform in the water, so hatch it. Go back and reunite with Banjo (use the Springy Step Shoes to reach him). Just to the side of those Split-Up Pads, in the direction of the world entrance, is the ramp we scared the caveman a while ago. Go up this ramp and head inside the cave now.

Oogle Boogle's Cave

Head forward and use the Split-Up Pads to become solo Kazooie. Turn left and take the leftmost hallway (not the one you have to jump on a step to get into). Use the jump pad here to get into the alcove above where there's another egg, hatch it. Now reunite with Banjo and leave the cave the way you entered.

Terrydactyland

Head directly across the bridge and enter the red door on the other side.

Unga Bunga's Cave

Head forward through the passage and in the big room jump into the alcove to the right. Go through that tunnel and drop down at the end, use the Split-Up Pads on the right. As Kazooie, look for a wall to your left that's red with a bit of purple at the bottom. There's a well-hidden crack in that wall, go through it. At the end is an egg, hatch it. The baby is too big to fly, so go back and swap to solo Banjo. Go to the baby and use the Taxi Pack - Hold cn_LT or cn_RT then hit left on the right stick to bring up the backpack, then hit cn_X to put them inside. Go back to the room with the Split-Up Pads, take the other way out of this room, the green tunnel. Drop down near a hatch, and keep going out that exit.

Terrydactyland

From here, turn right around the corner and you should see Wumba's wigwam below. Drop down to it and use the warp pad to go to the top of the mountain. Go up the ramp and enter Terry's Nest.

Terry's Nest

Head left and go inside the nest. Bring the baby out (hold cn_LT or cn_RT then hit left on the right stick) and Terry will give you another Jiggy (42/70). Exit the nest, then head down to the door and exit.

Terrydactyland

Go the warp and take it back to Wumba's wigwam. Head left to the red/yellow tunnel yet again. On the other side, jump right to the narrow ledge and enter the door at the end.

Styracosaurus Family Cave

Go up and talk to the mother dinosaur, she tells you the child dino on the left is sick. Use the Taxi Pack again to pick them up. Leave the cave.

Terrydactyland

Go left down the ramp and head in the direction of the world entry. When you see the grassy platforms that lead up to a Jamjars hatch, go into the cave entrance to the left.

Train Station - Terrydactyland

Hop into the back car of the train using the ramp. You can unpack the sick dino here. Hop out of the train car and directly ahead of you is a sparkly swap point. Use it to become Kazooie.

Unga Bunga's Cave

Take the same exit you did as Kazooie through the green tunnel and past the Jamjars hatch.

Terrydactyland

Take a right down to the wigwam, through the red/yellow tunnel, and onwards into the entrance to the train station.

Train Station (Terrydactyland)

Reunite with Banjo and jump in the front of the train. Take it to Isle O' Hags.

Isle O' Hags

Isle O' Hags (Cliff Top)

Follow the sandy path along the cliffside to the entrance of Jolly Roger's Lagoon. On the right side is a staircase going down, follow it to find a button. Step on it to make a bridge appear. Go up and go across that bridge. Circle the building to collect the notes (90/100), then use the vine on the back to climb up and get a Glowbo. Go back across the bridge and head left, enter Mumbo's Skull.

Give him the Glowbo and leave as Mumbo. Head left back to the train and use the Mumbo Pad near it. Go back to the skull and become Banjo/Kazooie. Go back to the train and take it back to Terrydactyland.

Terrydactyland

Train Station (Terrydactyland)

You'll get a scene with the dino running home and thankfully you instantly get the Jiggy (43/70). Exit the train station.

Terrydactyland

Head left around the corner to the world entrance, leave the world now.

Isle O' Hags

Isle O' Hags (Wasteland)

Silo back to Plateau.

Isle O' Hags (Plateau)

Go into the beehive and spend your Empty Honeycombs to get another health unit. At this point, you have 9 out of 10 health and the last upgrade will require a whopping 9 Empty Honeycombs, which isn't worth it since we'll be activating the regen health cheat later on. Silo back to Wasteland.

Isle O' Hags (Wasteland)

Follow the digger tracks and you'll notice they go up a wall. Turn right here and at the end are some Springy Step Shoes. Equip them and go back to the tracks going upwards, jump and go forward.

Isle O' Hags (Quagmire)

Head forward to activate the silo. Enter Grunty Industries up ahead on the left.
