Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon A Time – How to watch, countdown to release (August 13 update)
The movie is already available on Amazon Prime Japan. As initially announced by Studio Khara, Thrice Upon A Time went live on Prime Video Japan as soon as clocks hit midnight, August 13 JST. However, Prime Video subscribers in the rest of the world will have to wait a few more hours as the movie isn’t available yet as I’m writing this. It should be online on August 13 at midnight in your Amazon Prime account’s time zone. And Amazon Prime USA should add the movie at midnight EST or PST. Click here for a PST countdown. Update: The movie is now available.
Eva Rebuild final movie release date on Amazon Prime
Amazon Prime Video will exclusively stream Evangelion: 3.0+1.1 Thrice Upon a Time on August 13, 2021. This is the last version of the Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time movie shown in Japanese theaters in June 2021, with minor animation fixes (but absolutely no changes story wise needless to say).
In Japan, the movie was titled Shin Evangelion Gekijō-ban and was released in theaters on March 8, after several delays. Amazon Prime will also stream the first three Eva Rebuild movies.
Prime Video will stream the final Eva movie with 10 dubbed languages including English and French, and with 28 subbed languages. The company also shared its own trailer for the movie.

Why are fans hyped for the final Evangelion movie?
Fans have been waiting for the final Eva movie for years. The first Rebuild of Evangelion movie was first released on September 1, 2007. The second one on June 27, 2009, and the third movie on November 17, 2012. This project began over 13 years ago and it’s finally ending.
This final Eva movie itself has a very peculiar history as well. Studio Khara and Evangelion director Hideaki Anno stated in 2015 he was again battling depression, which delayed the movie. Moreover, he was also busy with several projects, including Shin Godzilla which released in 2016, and Shin Ultraman, planned for 2021. Right now, Anno is also working on Shin Kamen Rider coming in 2023:
Together with Anno’s mental health problems, the movie’s production and release also had to deal with the Coronavirus pandemic and the state of emergency in Japan. The final Eva movie’s Japanese release got delayed from June 27, 2020 to October 16, then to January 23, 2021, and lastly to March 8. All of us outside Japan will finally be able to watch it too on August 13.
