FBI push to find Mark Himebaugh who went missing 24 years ago aged 11

The FBI is making a new push to find a young boy who went missing 24 years ago.

Mark Himebaugh was just 11-years-old on November 25, 1991 when he left his family's home in Middle Township, New Jersey to go watch  firefighters battle a marsh fire nearby.

He was never seen or heard from again, but investigators are hoping they may find new witnesses in the case thanks to an anonymous phone call that named a possible suspect.

On December 27, 2010, a man who did not identify himself called the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children from a gas station in Port Richmond, Pennsylvania, some 80 miles from where Himebaugh disappeared.

That brief conversation was released by authorities to NBC Philadelphia in hopes that anyone with new information may come forward.

'Okay. I need to know if you have a pen and paper because I’m not going to be on here long,' the caller tells the operator on the tip line.

He then goes on to say that the man who may have been involved in the disappearance is Gilbert Patrick Marie, something he claims to know because he is the 'son of the witness of the crime.'

Now, analysts from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children are spending time speaking to people in Port Richmond hoping for any leads, and posting photos of Himebaugh that show what the young boy looked like when he disappeared along with an age-progressed image of what he might look like today at 35-years-old.

For his mother Maureen, it brings about new hope, and she is convinced she will see her son again.

'They told me that they feel really good about this, that this is going to be our year,' she said.

'And I believe that.'

Anyone who may have any information of the disappearance of Mark Himebaugh can call Middle Township Police at 609.465.8700 or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children hotline at 800.THE.LOST.
