Emma Roberts Just Got L.A.'s Most Popular Summer Haircut

While some celebrities choose one signature cut and color to wear for years and years, others are a little more adventurous when it comes to changing things up. One such actress, Emma Roberts, is a color chameleon, and she's no stranger to a good chop or adding some extensions.

The American Horror Story star has been switching back and forth between blond and brunette and long and short for more than a decade. More recently she's branched out even further with buzzy shades like cayenne spice, smoky quartz, and rose gold. Now, however, she's gotten L.A.'s new signature summer cut and color: a choppy bob.

Although Roberts stands out from the crowd with the gorgeous buttery platinum shade she's wearing with her new cut, it feels as if all of Hollywood is turning to the textured bob. Celebs like Bella Hadid, Selena Gomez, and Nina Dobrev have all worn a similar cut recently. (It's almost like a shorter version of Pinterest's most popular haircut.)

Roberts' hair team, Nine Zero One cofounders Nikki Lee and Riawna Capri, created this lighter, brighter look and recorded the process in a mesmerizing time-lapse. The caption refers to the very near future (August 12 to be exact) when Mercury will be in retrograde, meaning communication can go a bit haywire. So astrologists encourage people not to make any huge decisions—like maybe chopping your hair and dying it blond—while that's happening. Luckily, this talented crew made Emma's new look happen in plenty of time.
