Elsa may have a girlfriend in Frozen sequel

(WTHR) — The Snow Queen may have a girlfriend in the Frozen sequel.

The director of the popular Disney movie 'Frozen' is keeping options open for the main character. During an interview, Frozen's co-director Jennifer Lee said there's potential for a lesbian relationship in the 2019 sequel, according to NBC5.

Lee said no decisions have been finalized but she enjoys that there's a buzz around the second film already.

“I love everything people are saying [and] people are thinking about with our film — that it’s creating dialogue, that Elsa is this wonderful character that speaks to so many people,” Lee said to HuffPost on Monday. “It means the world to us that we’re part of these conversations. Where we’re going with it, we have tons of conversations about it, and we’re really conscientious about these things.”

#GiveElsaAGirlfriend was even trending in 2016 after the creator of FeministCulture.com tweeted ""I hope Disney makes Elsa a lesbian. Imagine how iconic that would be #GiveElsaAGirlfriend," NBC5 reported.

As for if Elsa does have a girlfriend in the next film, we'll just have to wait and see.

Frozen 2 is expected to hit theaters Nov. 27, 2019.
