Dragonlike dinosaur skull donated to Children's Museum

Indianapolis - What do you have when you combine a dragon like skull with a dinosaur body? You have Dracorex Hogwartsia, and he's making his new home at the Indianapolis Children's Museum.

With a tap of a wand and the utterance of "Appearo Draco!" the skull of 66-million-year-old DracoRex Hogwartsia was unveiled at the Indianapolis Children's Museum. It marks the first time a children's museum has founded a new dinosaur species, a point not lost on Dr. Robert Bakker, also known as Dr. T Rex.

"It used to be kids' museums over here, adult museums over there. They don't talk to each other. Adult museums, they use real long names. The kids museum you talk directly - you get hands on - you get in the kid's face and they get in your face. Here they are together," said Bakker.

"It says Dracorex, as Mr. Bakker says. That means dragon king. I think that fits perfectly, because it is quite obvious it looks like a dragon and it is such a grand name," said Alexandra Saulsberry, whose family discovered the skull.

Dinosaurs are certainly no strangers to the Indianapolis Children's Museum, but dragons are another story. In fact, the idea comes right out of JK Rowling's Harry Potter novels. So they named it DracoRex Hogwartzia.

"It's a kids' museum. Kids love dinosaurs; kids love Harry Potter. It's a natural," said Bakker.

From now on you'll be able to come to the museum and decide for yourself if it looks like a dragon or not.
