DO or DON'T: Evening Gowns with Thigh-High Boots
Greetings from Paris, ladies! I arrived for fashion week, somewhat sleepily, yesterday morning and hit the ground running--or should I say ambled as quickly as my high heeled booties would let me. A few short hours after landing I found myself sitting at the Christian Dior show, watching flirty equestrian-inspired outfits shimmy down the runway--and was suddenly jolted wide awake. As you STFers know, caffeine is nothing compared to some high octane fashion. Drink it up, after the jump.
The thigh-high boots / cocktail dress combos at Dior really caught my attention, partially because I'd been circling the over-the-knee boot trend--but not diving in--for some time. Blake Lively and our own, always-chic Tracey found a way to make 'em work, making me love them (the boots and the gals) even more.
However, I'd never thought of going, well, glam with them before, until I saw the evening gown / tall boot combos at Dior, which I immediately gave a big thumbs up. (In my head that is. Whipping out the double digits at a runway show would be a level 11 fashion faux pas, though still not quite as bad as going commando in the front row.)
Anyway, back to the boots. I love that the boots make a fancy party go-er look a little more rugged--like the gal in question is ready for something a little bit more adventurous than indulging in a second round of canapes.
