Did train traffic stop on 9-11? - Trains Magazine
Gee, I thought my question was pretty straightforward. I realize the original poster was framing the questions in regard to 9/11. But he asked if trains stopped moving and if hazardous movements were halted.henry6

The implication of a question about stopping trains carrying hazmat is that such trains would be stopped for security reasons, apparently in the belief that the threat of a terrorist attack would be higher on the anniversary of 9/11. Certainly that implication was echoed in following posts.
You said that all trains were stopped in NYC. I suspect that this was not done for security reasons, but rather, to honor the moment.
So I’ll just go with that assumption.
