Did Adam Sandler’s Company Get an Actress Fired for Revealing They Demanded She Wear a Dress That “Shows off cleavage”?
Adam Sandler has been part of the industry since the early 90s. He started his career with small roles in TV shows before joining Saturday Night Live. From 1990 to 1995, he featured in SNL as a writer as well as an artist before being given the boot by NBC. Soon after that, he started landing leading roles in comedy movies and became the quintessential rom-com hero.
In the year 1999, Sandler started his movie production company, Happy Madison Productions. Most of his movies since have been produced by his company, with most of the projects doing abysmally among critics, but performing well at the box office. But the actor is not very concerned about his projects not doing well enough among the critics, and says he is happy making movies as long as they make his fans happy.
Actress Rose McGowan Was Not Happy With Adam Sandler’s Production House
Adam Sandler has worked with many actors in his career. After he started working in movies, he soon founded his own production company – Happy Madison Productions. His company started producing his projects soon after – starting with the 1999 movie Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo starring Rob Schneider, and Sandler’s 2000 movie, Little Nicky.

In 2015, actress Rose McGowan made a Twitter post, addressing a production company she was then working with, which happened to be Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions. She posted the call note she received from the studio (via E! News), which read:
“Please make sure to read the attached script before coming in so you understand the context of the scenes. Wardrobe note: Black (or dark) form-fitting tank that shows off cleavage (push-up bras encouraged). And formfitting leggings or jeans. Nothing white.”
McGowan, who has never shied away from speaking her mind and going after the likes of who we now call Hollywood predators, said that the note came across as offensive. She captioned the now-deleted tweet as:

A few days after she posted the call note, she tweeted informing her fans and followers that she “just got fired by [her] wussy acting agent” for calling out the “bulls**t in Hollywood.” Well, not the first time this has happened to her to be fair.
Rose McGowan Said She Was Not Trying to Vilify Adam Sandler
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly soon after, Rose McGowan said that the note, more than anything, was dumb. And that she found it offensive, that no one who had read it, thought it to be inappropriate.
“It was just so dumb. I was offended by the stupidity more than anything. I was offended by the fact that went through so many people’s hands and nobody red flagged it. This is normal to so many people. It was probably even a girl that had to type it up. It’s institutionally OK.”
She further added that her intention was never to vilify Sandler but to point out the workings in Hollywood.

Whether Sandler had a hand in writing the note or having McGowan fired is still a mystery. But well, the actress has always marched to her own drums, and we hope that even after so many years since the incident, she continues to do the same.
