Cutting Masonite - Model Railroader Magazine

If all you need are straight cuts I agree with nssd70m. Home Depot will be happy to do it for you. They may or may not charge a small fee for the cut. I work in the Newmarket, Ontario Home Depot and we rarely charge for cutting. It only happens when there are multiple cuts.

Just be aware that, depending on who is using the saw, the cuts might not be exactly where you want them. I'm not talking huge differences here, but if you have to be accurate to within say 1/16" they will not guarantee it.

The second benefit to letting them do the cutting is that it is their saw blade that is taking the beating. Masonite is hard on blades!

If you are going to cut curves with a scroll saw I recommend using a blade that is ground to a taper instead of having the teeth 'set', and that cuts on both the up and the down strokes. You will get much cleaner cuts. As I already mentioned, Masonite is hard on blades so I would suggest you have a few in reserve.
