I think this is covered in Rule 18.2a (i) "touches it purposefully"
= one-shot penalty.
& "must be replaced"

It's rather against the spirit of the game and a word in the team captains' ear would definitely be needed.

But you have to assume he just lost his cool this one time and will learn from the mistake and continue being respectful/gentlemanly.

Having spent many years figuring out how to avoid temper tantrums I actually feel a lot more sympathetic to those who get the rage... I wish none of us did, and that we could just laugh off being a bit useless at this game more often than we'd like...
But, it's just not that simple.
