Ayra Starr’s song set as compulsory exam question at Kenyan University

Breakout Nigerian singer, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has been featured in an examination at The Catholic University of Eastern Africa in Nairobi, Kenya.

A question about her iconic song ‘Rush‘ was made mandatory in an exam for second-year marketing and management students.

The lecturer wrote lyrics from the song and suggested that they “investigate the implied thesis that teenagers are only motivated to work by money” in the course titled “CMH 221: Human Resource Management”.

The undergraduates were instructed to answer the first question and any other two in the April 2023 exam.

The question read;

A Kenyan student, @muregzzzz, rushed to Twitter to share a screenshot of the test paper. He felt dissatisfied that their lecturer based the questions on a musician’s song despite thoroughly studying the other parts of the syllabus.

He wrote; “Imagine this, you’ve studied the whole semester for a unit depriving yourself of any form of entertainment even music and hujawai skia rush by ayra starr, you walk into an exam room and this is what you see.”
