Garrigus is currently ranked at 1,043 in the world and has not participated in a full PGA Tour season since 2018.” I am grateful to have been given a sponsor exemption into this week’s event and I just want to focus on playing the best I can,” the 44-year-old said.
“The PGA Tour is in trouble now”
The tournament is the first of eight scheduled events announced by Australian entrepreneur Greg Norman, who is the face of LIV Golf. The tournament is quite lucrative, with 25 million purses with $4million for the first place. It has been universally criticized as a blatant attempt by the Saudi regime to ‘sportswash’ its human rights abuses.

It is expected that the players on LIV Golf will largely comprise journeymen from the PGA tour and the DP World Tour. Garrigus, 44, joined the PGA Tour in 2006 and since then, has had one career victory in 2010 and has limited status on the PGA Tour.
Currently, Garrigus has limited status on the PGA Tour as a veteran and a past champion. His earnings in the PGA Tour estimate to be around $14.9 million, which could significantly increase when he plays the LIV Golf series. He will be in the field this week for the team event, the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with Tommy Gainey.
