Assassin's Creed Mirage adds New Game Plus this week, permadeath mode delayed

Assassin's Creed Mirage will add a New Game Plus mode in a free title update rolling out to Xbox players this week. However, Ubisoft has announced that the game's permadeath mode, which was also due to launch in December, has been delayed into 2024. "New Game + for Assassin’s Creed Mirage is coming next week," reads a tweet from Ubisoft posted on Thursday. "Dive back into Basim’s journey with your current progression and new rewards.

"The team is still working on the permadeath mode, which is expected to release in an update early 2024."

Assassin's Creed Mirage launched in October, and Ubisoft claims it saw similar launch player numbers to the gargantuan Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Assassin's Creed Origins. The publisher also announced that Mirage was its "biggest new-gen launch" in terms of sales.

With Mirage, Ubisoft took the series back to its roots, and in our Assassin's Creed Mirage review, we described the stealth game as a "successful parry of franchise fatigue."

Last month, Ubisoft managed to spark outrage from players by sneaking Black Friday ads for Mirage into older Assassin's Creed games. The developer blamed the ads that were popping up when trying to access map menus on a "technical error."

At this stage, we don't know if the title update coming this week, or next year's permadeath mode update, will add any new Assassin's Creed Mirage achievements. If there are any new achievements on the way, we'll be sure to update you.
