Animal Crossing New Horizons 2.0 Update

Now that Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been out for over a year, it’s really starting to find its footing. With a constant stream of updates, players are looking to the 2.0 update for some big changes.

ACNH has had an interesting rollout of its content. Unlike other games in the series, New Horizons has been adding new seasonal content every few months giving players plenty of reasons to hop back on and continue working on their islands.

As we get ever closer to the rumored 2.0 update, there has been plenty of questions surrounding it.

Here’s what to expect for the Animal Crossing 2.0 update.

When to Expect the 2.0 Update

Many Animal Crossing fans were a little disappointed with the game’s one-year anniversary. Despite constant content additions and events, hardly anything was done to celebrate the one-year milestone. Eyes have now turned to the series’ 20th-anniversary date for a big content update, the 2.0 patch.

The series is celebrating its 20th anniversary in just two days, April 14. If Nintendo was planning something big, then that would be the time to do it. However, there’s been no word on such an update and the April event calendar has already been confirmed by Nintendo, so things aren’t looking great on that front.

Could it happen? Sure. Is it likely? I’m not so sure.

What to Expect from the 2.0 Update

Even if it’s not coming in just a few days, the Animal Crossing 2.0 update is going to be a big one. Anytime any game gets to a big milestone in terms of update number, you can guarantee some large additions.

There are three main things that a lot of fans have been asking for in the past several updates that hopefully will be implemented in 2.0.

The first is a simple one: new villagers. Despite the recent partnership with Sanrio, fans are itching to meet new friends and island inhabitants in the game. There have been a few villager additions recently, but the community always wants more.

The Roost Coffee shop is another fan favorite that seems to be coming soon. Roost was a place for players and villagers to go to enjoy some dark brews and even get a part-time job. Its absence from New Horizons has been felt by the fans, so hopefully we’ll hear about it for the 2.0 update.

Tortimer’s island is another feature from New Leaf that fans have been wanting in New Horizons for a while. Tortimer in general has been absent from the game, so the 2.0 update seems like the perfect time to bring him back and allow players to play minigames on his island once more.
